The Campaign Manager Who Beat Eric Cantor Just Deleted His Facebook
Boys will be boys. Zachary Werrell, 23, is just a boy who happens to be running the campaign of the tea partier who upset House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in last night's Virginia congressional primary. A boy who, like so many others, suddenly realized his Facebook rants could be a liability.
Yahoo News' Garance Franke-Ruta notes that Werrell's Facebook profilewhich listed his job as "RINO Hunter" since 1991, the year of his birthunderwent major emergency surgery last night to remove some malignant growths:

Werrell's boss, candidate David Brat, will probably win a congressional seat, which means the young lad will probably get a nice Hill job. Here's a post he deleted that argues pro-choice Americans should be appreciative of George Zimmerman killing a black teenager:

Yep, we got rid of crazy and now have setup this congressional district to have batshit, looney tunes crazy poised to win this seat (along with his batshit, looney tune crazy staffers).
I know it's a long shot for the Dem to win in this congressional district. It was gerrymandered to ensure that the GOP would win it. But let's hope that as more crazy stuff comes out from the Brat campaign that the voters will turn against this loony toon guy and elected the democrat.

(95,337 posts)This was about 10 years ago and in 2010 the GOP did get the seat back finally.
For ages the representative was Don Sherwood. I had family who lived up there and they'd vote for Sherwood but as my grandfather would call him, Sherwood was 'a dottering old fool who just wants an easy paycheck'. But it was NC Pennsylvania and it was solid conservative country and the district was gerrymandered to extremely safe GOP.
But around 2006 a story broke that Sherwood not only was having an extramarital affair but the woman who he was having an affair with he was also beating her.
At that point the folks decided they'd rather vote for a democrat than vote for the woman beater even if he was a republican.
Chris Carney, a conservative democrat, did win but was ousted in 2010.
In the end the only way Cantor's old district is going to turn blue is if we show just how dangerously crazy this Brat guy is and the people with the Brat campaign. If Brat comes across sane then he will win. Because for that district in Pennsylvania, the voters always knew that Don Sherwood was a crappy do-nothing representative there to just cash in a paycheck but he was a republican he won. It took a serious scandal to get them to vote democrat. And the dem did win a re-election. He lost because of redistricting to make the district even more republican and that was the year the tea party first took control of congress.

(46,703 posts)I just don't encourage fabricating things. That's one of the things that distanced me from the one or two local Democrats that I tried to support around here. They wanted to play as dirty as the Republicans. No dice. It just takes us down deeper into a world that we're trying to escape.

(8,914 posts)more bat-$hit crazy stuff will come out that the voters are going to have buyers remorse
and beg Cantor to run as a write-in ballot option. Then his base will come out in mass to get
him re-elected.
It's been done before, when Lisa Murkowski republican senator of Alaska was re-elected as a write-in
after losing to Republican bat-$hit crazy tea party candidate Joe Miller won the primary.

(2,381 posts)The point of gerrymandering is to get the opposing party packed into as few districts as possible. They win fewer seats by larger margins. The flipside is, your party will win more seats, but by narrower margins.
Cantor's margins have been wide, but I don't know how long it has been since the Democrats even ran a serious candidate in this district.

let the people see and hear from those who are making the decisions on the republican side.
