Maureen Dowd: Cheney's tiresome drumbeat

--

Who would have thought that Iraq imploding would give the mountebanks who tricked us into war a chance to rear their heads and seek rehabilitation — somehow grabbing onto the hellish spiral as proof that they were right in their original wrongness?

But, then, they did always create their own reality spun from grandiosity.

They are shamefully showcased on cable TV, which has so much airtime to fill that it doesn't care if it's hot air. They are once more pounding on the fear button and warning that America needs to attack or risk being emasculated by Middle Eastern terrorists. Doesn't Vice know that most Americans, especially the Bushes, cannot stand his demented scaremongering anymore? Even Fox News anchors are now pressing him with skeptical questions about the war.

Asked by Fox's Elisabeth Hasselbeck if he thought we "could be on track for something worse than 9/11," Cheney replied, "I think that's a possibility."

He's always busy predicting another 9/11. Too bad he and W. ignored warnings about the first one.

I'm glad he lived long enough to hear the public ridicule of his pretensions. nt bemildred Jul 2014 #4

When she is good, she is very, very good.

And when she's bad, she's horrid.

Cheney's an easy target. She'll have to do better than that to live down that laughable cannibis OD column.

But yeah, somebody like Cheney, that she can do quite well. She knows all the fancy insults and applies them correctly, unlike for example Friedman who moves ideas around like Lego blocks.

Edit: I assumed the cannabis OD piece was a satire, on the theory that she seems unlikely to have been serious, I mean when is she ever serious? And also, she seems unlikely to actually be that ignorant about cannabis, but I could be wrong about that..

Comets striking the earth comes to mind, Mega-earth quakes, Zombie invasions, Cat Uprisings, 10 plagues of Egypt, Republicans passing legislation benefiting the average American --- the list is endless. And you know, he'd be right. The guy is a fucking prophet.
