Why is Obama's rating so low?

When a president can't get anything done, he usually has a low rating. HOWEVER, in Obama's case, he can't get anything done with a party of NO in charge of the house. I can understand why Congress's rating is low, but should Obama's be low just because he has to contend with the party of NO?

This is NOT about free speech ... Fox News has crossed the line. Yes, I certainly believe in free speech, but how far does one let Fox News go ... for one example, look at what Goebbels did in Germany. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Goebbels

Obama's kinda the person on top of the government, and things have not gotten appreciably better during his presidency.

People get mad when things suck. Thoughtful people can argue about what percentage of the suck is due to Obama, but for most people it's the guy in charge who's responsible.

The absolutely relentless, single minded and vicious attacks by the right from even before he got elected, coupled with the corporate media totally giving up on being unbiased and gleefully advancing whatever bullshit the right comes up with coupled with the ever growing direct connect between media and people in this country coupled with the people of this country being too complacent to not have the common sense to disregard the obvious bullshit said about this president.

Also, the post ahead of this one, unlike Republicans, Democrats being far too prone to throw a good man under the bus (and I agree with SOME of the points).

Republicans believe the rhetoric that Obama is a dictator & unwilling to compromise. Dems complain he compromises too much.
Obama has done a lot of great things (i.e cutting the deficit in half), but the Dem Party has never been the party to brag. (the GOP takes credit for things they didn't even do lol)
The Dem Party needs to change their playbook & go on the offensive instead of always defending their decisions.

It might have to do with some of the things that he has gotten done.

Like assasinating an American citizen without due process of law. Like killing wedding parties with Hellfire missiles fired form drones. Like killing women and children in a dozen countries with those missiles and drones. Like declaring war on Libya and turning it in to a hellish chaotic failed state. Like keeping our troops in Afghanistan for six more hellish, futile, wasted years with nonsensical explanations like "we are denying them space in which to plan their attacks." Like extending the Bush tax cuts for the rich for two more years to assure his reelection.

I didn't say the Republicans wouldn't do it. Are you suggesting that the fear that a future Republicans president might do it means that we should like President Obama for doing it now? Note, I'm not asking if we should merely excuse him for doing it and vote Democrat, but that we should give him a high popularuty for doing those things, because that's what the question was. "Why is he unpopular?" It wasn't about future governance, it was about what exists now.

If you think I'm going to say "Oh yes, I just love a president who does that" merely because he had a "D" after his name you have another think coming.

many Dems. simply don't see what a great opportunity impeachment would be to get millions of
Americans (especially Republicans) informed about what the Republican Party is really about:

It doesn't make the slightest bit of difference whether Bush, Cheney & Co. should be found guilty
or not guilty. It's the great publicity their crimes will finally be getting during the impeachment
hearings process. Main Stream Media will no longer be able to hide them any longer.

Millions of those who vote Republican will be shocked to learn the truth for the first time. And
enough of them would quit the Republican Party to make a big difference during elections, especially
if the Democrats would care enough to hammer the truth home during those times.

They'd just get everything vetoed if they did, and they probably realize full well that the Senate will probably flip back if 2016 and realize what a complete F-up it would be not to be able to fall back on the filibuster. If anything they might reinstate the filibuster for judicial nominees knowing what could lie ahead in 2016.

There' that's the short form.

But its not in Obama's nature to be an aggressive leader. So we'll never see him lead like that.

We are a aggressive, arrogant, and bellicose people, so it is natural for us to desire aggressive, arrogant, and bellicose leaders. And when our leaders aren't acting like cowboys, their poll numbers go to crap.

Says more about the state of our culture than it does about our politics. And that's pretty sad.

.... despite a soaring stock market that helps mostly the rich and could drop by half literally any given week, and despite the claims of "slow steady growth", people are wising up to the FACT that the economy is not really recovering. RECOVERY means returning to the status of the past. That is not happening. Things are getting a tiny bit better, but real people in the real world have to settle for lower paying jobs or no job at all, see their friends and relatives in the same boat to the extent that the media message is starting to sound like the lie it is.

You could say "well maybe so, but how is that Obama's fault"? And I wouldn't totally disagree with you. But the FACT is that when times (economic) are bad the president and the party in power get punished in the popularity polls and at the election polls. That is as American as apple pie and it's not going away.
