"Alan Grayson is a Unique Voice for Peace. Help Him." - Frances Fisher

[p]Help Alan’s Reelection, Because “We Need Peace.”

[p]The final quarterly deadline for the 2014 Grayson for Congress reelection campaign is approaching rapidly. We asked famed actress Frances Fisher to explain why she supports Alan Grayson, and why you should, too. Frances played one of the central characters in “Titanic,” the second-highest grossing film of all time, and she stars today in the ABC TV drama hit “Resurrection,” the 11th most-watched show on TV. (The second season of “Resurrection” premieres tonight, at 9 pm.) You can see Frances’s moving video here. This is what she said: [br /][br /] Hi, I’m Frances Fisher, and I’m here to talk to you about Alan Grayson. He needs to be reelected for Congress, because we need him in Congress. [br /][br /] He’s got one of the most unique voices for peace that I’ve ever heard. And it would be a tragedy if he weren’t reelected. That’s why I’m doing everything that I can [to reelect Alan Grayson]. That’s why I’m speaking to you, right now. [br /] [br /] Open your wallets. [br /][br /] Open your heart. [br /][br /] Open your mind. [br /][br /] Tell your friends. Tell people you don’t even know. [br /][br /] Donate something to Alan Grayson. Get him reelected to Congress. Our lives depend on it. [br /][br /] We don’t need any more war. We need peace. [br /][br /] Sincerely, [br /][br /] Frances Fisher [br /][br /] [em]Our FEC deadline is barely 48 hours away. Please help Alan Grayson’s reelection campaign, right here and right now.[/em]

Yet some think that he is great because he "talks" to us. Could the member of his staff who posts these ever enter into conversation here ... ever?

How many more before they are labeled spam?

2. Yeah, rather than helping

it's frankly a big turnoff.

At least this one is honest that it's a fundraising post. The rest are all fakers with links that lead you to donation pages--something that shouldn't be allowed, imo.

7. I questioned if it should be allowed and realized that there have been times

when DU helped Presidential candidates or worked on some issue. I would suspect that he likely has gotten some money when he puts out these requests - and it costs him nothing - other than the salary of the staff person who puts them here.

He is NOT making any contacts here. Either he or an aide is dropping the email du jour sent out here as a post. I actually think that the Daily Kos format works better for most politicians. They get to put a serious - usually well thought out essay out and then, the better ones give really coherent, respectful responses to some responses that they got.

There are MANY politicians who have past or present - had REAL interactive experiences on Daily Kos or other venues. That is not this. On DK, I know that any politician who drops a diary and then disappears is not considered to have used the forum well. Here, Grayson is not "giving" us anything - other than a request that we give him money - and I have never seen him or a staff person respond to anything.

You have enough of it.

I have no money to give, just trying to keep my head above water in these tough economic times.

8. Comes off bad when you ask for $ more than you ask for Votes.

You're gonna end up getting neither from this approach, ergo zero ROI.

It's very nicely formatted, with all the direct links to various donation amounts, don't get me wrong.
I appreciate how much effort went into making it easier for people to put money into your war chest.
