Negative election predictions? Wouldn't be happening if not for TURNOUT predictions.

Last edited Sun Oct 19, 2014, 09:49 PM - Edit history (1)

So here we are with the corporate media memes about negative election predictions, and it is all because of concerns about TURNOUT. If ALL of our voters would just TURN OUT and VOTE, none of this SHIT would be going on.

Now, the candidates and party are working LIKE HELL to turn out the vote, and the country is full of CLOSE election predictions, really. This is NOT 2010, much as the corporate media and TeaScumLicans would like it to be.

But I do have to say it is god damned PATHETIC that here we are with this meme because of TURNOUT predictions. It is truly pathetic that THIS has to be our god damned concern every other election cycle. It is truly ridiculous.

As rotten as the TeaSCUMlicans are? As horrid as they are? And we actually have to worry about turnout? Dems and progressive indies should be RUNNING to the polls they should be so motivated. They should be lining up to volunteer to campaign. My god, it is truly foolish that THIS should even be an issue.

If ALL Dems/Progressives just VOTE then we will do VERY well. I have already voted early and have donated countless hours to campaigning. We are working hard. No excuses. None. GO VOTE and bring someone with you ! Or, as they say, DON'T EVER, EVER complain.

That's not media spin, that's cold, hard data. I've had plenty of Democratic candidates and Party leaders tell me the same thing. I agree we need to fight like hell to get our voters out, but I'm not going to blame the media for reporting something that's true.

I'm not so certain that pattern is true today ... or for the last 3 cycles. The historical model for the Democratic base was broken in 2008 AND in 2010 AND in 2012.

2008: +5 million: https://www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/voting/cb09-110.html

2010: +1.1 million: http://www.pewhispanic.org/2011/04/26/ii-dissecting-the-2010-electorate/

2012: +1.7 million: http://www.census.gov/prod/2013pubs/p20-568.pdf (comparing 2008 to 2012)

Well ... at least for one segment of the Democratic base ...

And the news media loves speculation because of the fact that it is removed from all reason or accountability. What serves news media is a dynamic narrative. And that's something that is true.

When Mary Burke and Kay Hagan and Greg Orman tell me this is a problem, I'm inclined to believe them.

Republicans spend A LOT of money trying to keep people from voting.
So, either VOTE or give them exactly what they want

If a Rep was President then Dems would be fired up. Hatred is strong, the world is burning and Dems are losing ground in strong red states (Ky, NC), even NJ and ILL is close enough that the 'tea leaves' so to speak point to Republican landslide on election night.

This is what happens when it's "all politics", the perception is no difference in the two major parties (I've heard many on both sides tell me this, there really is no difference). The two parties have been corrupted by a certain influence of big money so the only thing that inspires ANYONE to really vote is just pure disgust for the party in the White House.

There will be a true ebb and flow in our election cycles forever, until we get money out of politics and get a legitimate Liberal party. The Liberal Party in this nation can not stand up to the corrupting influence of the corporate oligarchy when that party relies on same oligarchy.

When things really get horrible, then true action from the grass roots will take place and either the Democrats will become the liberal party again or the left will have its own "version" of the Tea Party, but with a hell of a lot more substance.

Hope for the best on election night, expect the worst.
