Rebellion is like War, a last resort of action, staying home is Apathetic Ignorance, Camping out on Wall street is Civil disobedience AND that's rebellious , and NOT worth a vote for the right person .

We don't like the actions of the TP type, got there because the GOP and TP people got out and voted, we can change the make up of those in office because there are more Democrats than republicans.

Plato informs us: ''One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.''

- He never mentions what you should do when you do participate and you still end up being governed by them......

but he is not a woman in TX. He has no idea what we face in Texas. The Venus Project is amazing to read about and something we should aspire to imo, but it's also important we take the few minutes at lunch or after work to stop and vote. Early voting in Texas is easier (at least where I am) because we have a plethora of locations where we can vote. Our reproductive rights are the issue here.

Do it this week - starts today - take your photo ID. Here is further info: http://www.democraticunderground.com/107821430

I've posted the info for TX early voting in both the state forum and GD. If folks ignore it they are being willfully ignorant.

It's so easy to early vote here. I'm hoping the new photo ID requirement doesn't slow us down too much. Stupid Supreme Court.

Plenty of reasons to vote for the least bad candidate with a reasonable chance.

But that said, if you can't bring yourself to vote for the lesser evil, show up and vote third party, write in your own name, or just leave the ballot blank. When the exit polls indicate that a sizable number of voters have indeed shown up to the polls and done these things, politicians will start to appeal to them.

It had never been a Republican, and is usually a Democrat. But I believe choosing the least bad candidate is no different than trading freedom for security. You always wind up with bad results.

I do occasionally write in my only name, but only when it is an uncontested race.

Vote for the best fit in the primary. Vote for the least-bad in the general.

That will ratchet the party towards your views. Just like it ratcheted the Republican party towards insanity.

Always voting third party means the Democrats don't give a damn about your vote, and will not work to get it. As a result, you actually drive the party away from where you want it to go.

... from a local republican who was obviously unhappy with our US House congress-critter (also a republican). He was essentially encouraging fellow republicans to simply not vote in that particular race come election day:

"One need not vote Democrat, Republican, or 'third party.' One can cast votes but also refrain from casting a vote for a specific office. No need to switch political parties."

So basically -- you can stay a stalwart republican and still not vote for this yahoo.

I find this a fascinating argument, and one I have not heard before in my fairly red part of a very blue state.

If more republicans just didn't vote for their own people, they could well be screwed.
If we democrats don't vote for own people, especially in tight races, then we're screwed instead.
I'd rather it was them.

A point or two is easy and low risk to flip. Twenty percent? Not so much.

Even Obama's margins were too risky to rig. Turnout is our best defensive AND offensive weapon.

No time for college, you'll have to work 60 hours a week just to pay rent. Can't afford college anyway, you'll have to live-in with aging parents. They'll need you to help make ends meet. If they can't afford yearly state taxes and neighborhood association yearly dues, no more home to live in.

Fell behind on student loans? Debtors aren't allowed to inherent the family home or even allowed to have a mortgage. You won't be able to afford to have children but you will have kids because no birth control allowed in your state.
