I just used ***Ballotpedia*** to look up a proposed Amendment to our State Constitution ...

turns out Proposed Amendment No. 5 is backed by the NRA, and meant to pre-empt any further changes to AL hunting and fishing laws.

Lots of links at Ballotpedia, so I can research all five proposed amendments. Includes lists of supporters and how Senators and Representatives voted; includes a link to an article arguing against the Amendment.

I think I like Ballotpedia.

I agree. A friend turned me on to it. It helped me with my ballot questions. valerief Nov 2014 #1

Knowing who backs a ballot question is exceedingly revealing.

If Amendment 3 IS PASSED, the right to bear arms will be elevated under the State Constitution to a fundamental right and given the highest possible protection. This right will also be provided with additional protection from potential interference by international treaty or foreign law.

How a state's laws can trump "international treaty or foreign law". I have no clue.

If Amendment 1 IS PASSED, Alabama will have in place a Constitutional provision that says Alabama citizens will not be subject to foreign law if application of the foreign law would violate Alabama law or result in a violation of their rights.

essentially the same idea as the guns rights, but I suspect is aimed at equal marriage.

"Foreign law" is defined as any other state, and the Federal Gov't.
So these are really "State's Rights" laws.

And, for the record, the guy running against the current Republican Gov. is a Dino, but does have more progressive ideas than Bentley.
Of course it does not take much to be more progressive than our Republican Governors.

We have several R's running unopposed, so it's no surprise if our ballots run red.
