Politics Done Right on KPFT - The first thing Black 16yr old asked his mother about police

Today I start my show on a more personal note. You see while blogging at Starbucks last evening, my sister sent me a text. It was a rather disturbing text. You see my nephew just received his drivers license.

I remember when I got my drivers license. It was one of the happiest days of my life. It brought me a degree of independence. To some extent it gave my little sister some independence as well as I became her chauffeur many times.

It is ironic that as my little sister’s son, my nephew gets his license, it is a bitter sweet occurrence. My nephew is extremely smart. He understands what is going on. Not only does he understand, he knows he must be more careful than most of his friends. Police do not know my nephew as I know him. For them, he is just a threat.
