Torture=terrorists=republicans

Torture is allegedly meant to extract valid intelligence through the use fear, pain and death. This could be a working, if not legal, definition of terrorism. The very worst abominations of governments in history have relied on this form of terrorism to intimidate not only their enemies but their own citizens. What a government can do to its own citizens is expressed by what it does to its foes, sooner or later it will justify its actions as being self preservation, and it citizens as foes.

All evidence proves, much to the chagrin of its advocates, that torture/terrorism fails at all levels. The CIA has categorically admitted this truth. It does have one effect, that of creating new and challenging enemies. The current CIA protestations attest to that reality when they cry about how releasing this report will endanger Americans. The truth is that torture/terrorism endangers Americans, not the revealing of the criminal acts done in the name of America.

The CIA has become the symbol of American sponsered terrorism, an incompetent one at that. Because of the Bush administrations use of torture/terrorism tactics our soldiers and even civilians are now exposed to the very real danger of In kind treatment. The Bush administrations use of torture as a reaction to 9/11 was not, as stated to prevent future attacks, but to absolve themselves of guilt by lashing out at those who made them look stupid. The CIA has historically failed so often in its mission that it felt it would be destroyed if the truth ever came out about its incompetence. The single most glaring contemory example of this incompetence being the World Trade Center.

The single most responsible actor in this swamp of horrors is none other than ex-human and Vice President Dick Cheney. If he ever meets the angry God he prays to, he will have a shiney new circle of hell all to himself.

My guess is that he prides himself on his position.

My opinion is that the "end" of torture activities was worse the worthless. It harmed everyone involved. If true the assertion that the "end justifies the means" is an untrue, and in this case, fallacious statement.

For many years it has been against the law for our Government to utilize torture for any reason. As far as I know, that is still the case.

There were some who wanted it and they "bent" the law by claiming we needed it for National defense.

But, we all know that not one person involved in this horrible disgrace will suffer one day of punishment for the criminal behavior.

2. The fact that nothing at all will be done about any of this or to the perpetrators in light of now

knowing the truth about it is probably the saddest part of it all. We are quickly passing beyond the point of redemption for our actions.
In a day or two, the media will move on to the next 24/7 story and that will be that.
