Canadians considering legalizing prostitution, their government, not so much

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/prostitution-should-be-regulated-run-like-business-health-group-says-1.2871428

Poll after poll in Canada indicate strong support for legalizing both Cannabis and Prostitution. The Government of Canada, which is somewhere socially to the Right of the US Tea Party, won't even consider it.
What do you think Canadians should or can do about it?

Whether prostitution is legalized or not, it is going on anyway. One big difference is that Cal33 Dec 2014 #2

at electing politicians who actually reflect the views of the constituency. But then I think the US should do better than we do at electing politicians who reflect the views of the constituency. (The human ones, I mean, not the corporate ones.)

I'm not sanguine that either population will actually do so.

when it is illegal, as it is now, the criminal elements get into the picture - and they can
make money, big-time. Also, some crooked officials are making money from it, too --
the same situation exists with drugs.

I think crooks are the ones who are really happy about all this phony pretense at sexual
morality! It's making them rich. Unfortunately, their fighting among each other, over
turf for example, also jacks up the murder rate.
