In New Hampshire, Perry says he hasn’t thought about giving away $200k from domestic abuser

BEDFORD, N.H. – Former Gov. Rick Perry indicated Wednesday that he wasn’t familiar with a $200,000 donation his political action committee took from a Grand Prairie developer convicted of domestic abuse two years ago.

Unlike Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who said last week they would donate a combined $702,600 to women’s shelters and domestic violence groups after the donor’s history came to light, Perry said he hadn’t even considered giving back the money or donating it. The funds supported his 2012 presidential bid.

“That’s their call,” Perry said. “I really hadn’t thought about it. I haven’t given it any thought.”

Asked whether he’ll give away the money from Marcus Hiles, Perry said, “I don’t have any idea. We’ll talk about it at some appropriate time. But not that I’m aware of. Over what period of time? Two years ago?”
