There is nothing new under the sun. To change a famous quote from the Senate just a tiny bit:

"Until this moment, Senators, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness. Let us not assassinate this President further, senators. You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?"

Remember, this was the line that ended the spectacular career of a hugely popular, right-wing Senator. Perhaps history will repeat itself.
