Oh, they told the Iranians that the next president - a Republican, of course - would null any agreement.
If we can believe the polls, Hillary is leading all the Republicans. So let her be the next president and tell Cotton and his 46 merry men to go eat crow. At least.

(20,176 posts)Hillary would be every bit as bad for the middle-class and working-poor as Jeb Bush. They're both paid for with Wall St. money.
Let's not do that to America...America deserves better. America deserves a competent, real Democrat for President.
question everything
(47,479 posts)Yes, papa nominated Sauter - who got tired soon enough - and also the dreadful Thomas.
The oldest justices are the liberals. The next president will nominate at least a new one and we should trust Clinton more than Bush. If someone here disagree, I'd like to hear this.
Nominating the next justice trumps everything else. We cannot assure the concerns of the middle and lower classes. of working people of affordable health - ACA or other system - without the Supreme Court.

(47,479 posts)If she is the nominee and liberals will repeat the 1968 game - we will end up with a right wing SCOTUS. Probably the most right winged one, but perhaps legal eagles can opine.

I can't believe you said SUPREMEs aren't your big concern. THE WHOLE WORLD will be concerned.

(17,196 posts)i my mouth. I never used "big". I said it's not my #1 concern.
question everything
(47,479 posts)Whatever else your #1, and 2, and 3 concerns are - they can be affected by the Supreme Court. Just give it some thoughts, or, if you are not sure, ask here.

(54,380 posts)We should nominate (and, hopefully elect) whoever we want to, independently of whether or not some Republican whack job is forced to look in a mirror and see the shit staring back at him.

(59,503 posts)Assume a deal is reached and the US and the other countries sign.
There are two possible paths - Iran complies or it doesn't.
If it complies, NO President will argue that the US should reverse this -- and in fact, as the INTERNATIONAL SANCTIONS are the key -- they couldn't.
If Iran does not comply, ANY President will take some action - as will the other countries.
So, the differences are in the margins - who defines "comply" -- but in reality it is not a unilateral US privilege to do that. (ie if the rest of world thinks we are in case 2, while the President says case 1 -- the dynamic is like I laid out for complying.
That is WHY this is such a big deal and why if Obama gets this, he changes the likelihood of war!
