Dem Lt. Gov Candidte Mitchell fires up more than 100 dems leads them to early voting in Racine
RACINE Thursday was Election Day for more than 100 people who enthusiastically heard from Democratic Wisconsin lieutenant governor candidate Mahlon Mitchell, then walked to Racine City Hall and voted early.
Roughly 110 people gathered during the noon hour at the Bray Community Center, 924 Center St., for a Democratic Party Early Vote Drive.
The event featured Mitchell who will face Republican Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch in the June 5 recall election, and former Democratic state Sen. John Lehman, who will try to unseat state Sen. Van Wanggaard, R-Racine.
The gathering clearly included many recall activists; when Lehman asked who helped gather petition signatures, a large percentage of the audience raised their hands.
Anyone can cast an early absentee ballot until 5 p.m. the Friday before Election Day, Lehman noted.
For many of you, he said, (this) is the opportunity to vote now so that on Election Day or the days before, you can work all the harder to get your friends to vote.
Then Mitchell fired up the Democratic activists in pep rally fashion before walking with them to City Hall, 730 Washington Ave., where they voted.
