Should everyone be proactive and get certified copies of their birth certificates NOW?

Instead of waiting to see if their names end up on a purge list?

I have a driver's license, a social security card, any number of government papers including tax returns showing my identity. I have an un-certified copy of my birth certificate. But if I show up on a purge list, none of that will do me any good.

I'm thinking it may be wise to get a certified copy of my birth certificate, just in case.

I've had a copy for years...and it looks just like the President's...except that mine has above the top 'Territory of Hawaii'.

It is certified, but the one that was made when I was born with the hand and footprints is lost along with many other things. Thanks to the GOP, we just don't get to vote anymore, huh?

My parents names are not on it. My original at Vital Records was lost too. Good thing I got a Passport over 30 years and went through all the paper chase back then.

I know they don't like my certified short, short form BC, but I have no problems with the Passport.

12. The one with handprints and footprints was a hospital souvenir, mostly.

They used to take accept it, back in the old days (just like they accepted Baptismal certificates), but most state certificates didn't have the decorations.

14. Well, it appears now that only that one or a video of birth will satisfy the GOPTeabaggers.

And we barely had black and white television when I was born... Much less portable video cameras to record our birth.

I'm pretty sure my Dad was kept in the waiting room getting ready to pass out a cigar with either a pink or blue band, so he's no witness.

Perhaps the GOP in the future will require all humans to have silicon chips implanted at birth like Ma Bell tried to sell The President's Analyst on...

After all, the Republican Rape Party loves to get up close and personal with women and babies.

all I needed was my voter registration card. I was a precinct captain in 2008 so I'm a registered democrat. They didn't ask for anything else - just confirmed that I was still at the address on the card.

But I do have a certified birth certificate as well - I needed it when I got married in 2001 and used it recently to get my passport re-issued.

had to get one to get my passport a few years back.

Also I don't need to worry, I'm white and the right wing only harasses non-white people.
