"SNIP.................
Vice President Joseph Bidens team is putting out the word that he is leaning in favor of joining the presidential race next month, the Washington Times reports.
Said Democratic bundler Jon Cooper: They have given increasingly strong signals that Biden is going to throw his hat in the ring. Im as confident as I can be that he will be entering the race.

(11,619 posts)I look forward to hearing what solutions he has for the problems we face as a nation.
Not long ago, all we heard around here were complaints about there not being enough choices. I welcome them all.

(10,303 posts)Besides the GOP have outgrown their clown car and have commandeered a school bus - after all I'm sure any Democratic candidate will school them appropriately. The Dems need a minivan for their candidates and there'd still be room after Joe gets in.

(55,981 posts)It's good to have a choice, but after a point the new candidates only draw attention away from the others. I believe the corporate media will ignore Sen Sanders if they have a good excuse. The more candidates the bigger their excuse.
Stellar
(5,644 posts)Or...we don't need to draw attention away from our candidate. (although I prefer Bernie especially if he picks up on what interests me).

(118,658 posts)Biden is a fantastic debater. He will up everyone's game for the Democrats. Trump will lower the tone of the GOP debates...as if it is possible. Good for us.

(2,191 posts)The VP is merely candid and a bit crass at times, but says what's on his mind. Silly sometimes, but right more often then wrong.
Mr. "I'm very, very, RICH!!!!ONE!!" is a deliberately crass, racist, sexist ass, knows he's an ass, and simply doesn't care. Oh, and hes so so frequently wrong, to boot.
Big difference, friend.

I like him as a person, but he is just a step to the left of the DINOs. I'm voting progressive. I'm voting liberal. I'm not voting status quo.

(23,664 posts)Sounds like an occupation that we could probably use a lot fewer of.
I know we have a lot of "bunglers" in Washington and possibly some "buglers" or "burglars" and I know I get requests from my satellite provider to "bundle" my TV service with other communication media.
But I have no fucking idea what a bundler is in the context of a political campaign and I'll bet I'm not the only one around here.

(118,658 posts)tularetom
(23,664 posts)Actually, that sounds plausible. There is so much money in a national election, there are probably thousands of bundlers, each pulling in six figure salaries every year, just to suck some of it out. I think I'll have a little talk with my great grandkids and point them in that direction. Before they get old enough to have delusions of making a legitimate living in the post-TPP America.

(32,006 posts)They bundle together a bunch of money to give the candidate to get influence. Bundlers are given assignments by the candidates to get a certain about of money, like a million dollars or something.

(14,449 posts)No to Supreme Court. We need good liberals in their 40's who can outlive a possible Republican President someday.

(34,170 posts)That way Clinton can keep her hands clean. That was part of Bill's job back in 2007.
Once Sanders is marginalized, Biden will bow out because he'll wont overtake Clinton.
davidpdx
(22,000 posts)If he wanted to help Clinton all he would have to do is endorse her. Why would he want to go to all the trouble of running and actual campaign just to undermine Sanders? It would be a waste of time and money.
LovingA2andMI
(7,006 posts)Biden is jumping into the race IMHO because Hillary's Support is soft. Except for large money donors and the Faith Clintonites, it's soft. That's why the "Bundlers" whomever they are -- are encouraging Biden to get in the Race.
I've a feeling it will be Biden/Bernie for the long run...
davidpdx
(22,000 posts)But it would be a tough choice for me given I've already decided to support Sanders. At least I'd have until mid-May to decide who to vote for and could support both until then.

(3,764 posts)You don't think the people who made this country the largest jailer in the world should be taken to task or forced to explain themselves? I might accept his candidacy if he was to come out and say he was wrong and outline what he's going to do about it in his presidency. But as far as I know Joe Biden has said nothing about his previous vote to seem more "tough on crime" than the Republicans. I probably still wouldn't vote for him in the primary. I support Bernie, but I'd vote for Hillary, not sure if I'd vote for Joe.

(70,103 posts)having joe join the races makes me think how delightful it would be for our candidates to put on a clinic about the real conversation we ought to be having. have a giant televised bull session instead of a damn debate.

(7,006 posts)I welcome Joe into the race. Let's see what Joe can do.
Either way, this is the money quote from this piece -- which should make Hillary Supporters very worried indeed:
Mr. Biden would fit the bill easily, he said.
It was almost a diametrically opposed reaction than to Hillary. With Hillary, no excitement, they couldnt get enthusiastic about her for whatever reason, said Mr. Cooper. But when I mentioned that maybe Biden was going to enter the race, there was palpable excitement.
They are champing at the bit to raise money for Biden, he said.
