Rachel is her gracious self, and that republican supervisor is terrific.
She stands her ground with the request to purge the rolls.
I think we should flower bomb her.
Nice lady.... who don't cave in to partisan demands.

(1 post)My view is that no voter out reach is necessary--I only want those willing to get off their ass and register on their own to vote. Shows some initiative. I don't want everyone to vote--only those educated enough to make an intelligent decision.

(135,425 posts)Voter outreach is key, and so are GOTV efforts. I spend a lot of my time rounding up people and getting them to the polls on election day.
Do you seriously think the GOP would sit on their hands and not push their base to register and vote?

(145,321 posts)The GOP knows that their power goes up if they can keep people from voting. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/the-gop-war-on-voting-20110830
Republicans have long tried to drive Democratic voters away from the polls. "I don't want everybody to vote," the influential conservative activist Paul Weyrich told a gathering of evangelical leaders in 1980. "As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down." But since the 2010 election, thanks to a conservative advocacy group founded by Weyrich, the GOP's effort to disrupt voting rights has been more widespread and effective than ever. In a systematic campaign orchestrated by the American Legislative Exchange Council and funded in part by David and Charles Koch, the billionaire brothers who bankrolled the Tea Party 38 states introduced legislation this year designed to impede voters at every step of the electoral process.

(17,621 posts)But I say that the sight the 1% would fear most is a bunch of poor but eligible voters flocking to the polls, because sooner or later they are going to stop voting against their own interests.

(2,952 posts)Volusia was one of "those" counties in 2000...she handled it as well as it could have been handled, and has been a solid director since....I have never had a problem here in Daytona beach...easy to reach polling locations, great service for early voters here too...

(2,952 posts)Hell, you don't even live in Florida....
She has been a great commissioner for a long time....they are elected officials...you can't hold an office that long on a local level unless you have your ducks in a
Row....I understand your opinion, and like belly buttons we all have them, but I'm reasonably sure your time in volusia county, unless you bucked a trend and moved back to MI, was driving through it on I95 and I4 heading to Orlando.....her term Of service and popularity says plenty....there are some decent republicans, my father included....they just tend to be buried by the louder, obnoxious part of their party....

(36,392 posts)Sheriff Joe is a despicable low-life, so there goes your premise
Anyone who is still voting Republican is a mortal enemy of America, even if you're related to them.

(2,952 posts)Wingers do the same tactic....does that mean since you use their methods I should lump you into that group? My father was a green beret, served in two wars and received two bronze stars for saving Vietnamese civilians in the line of fire...he's very much an Eisenhower republican....you couldn't polish his boots friend....want to make a difference in Florida politics, move here or donate...the McFall / Sherrie joe comparison is a weak straw man argument in its best day...
