I don't know how many times she wrote Obama off in '08 and outright said she believed McCain would win.

It got old. Looks like we're back the Eeyore attitude again.

so in this case, I kinda share her pessimism, sadly.

So, I'll hold out until November whether to become pessimistic about it and concede we're pretty much fucked. If Obama wins, which I think he will, I think he'll show politics can rise above money and that will be huge.

In 2008 Maddow was a Debbie Downer. Anyone following the election closely knew Obama would win in a blowout, even if they looked at Zogby "shock polls" every once in a while.

It seemed like she was talking one-on-one with her audience with an air of concern about this money problem & how it affects democracy. I thought she was right on the money, sadly realistic.

competitive? We already know how much they have abandoned the New Deal and the Great Society. What more will they abandon?

And Karl Rove's Jedi mind tricks. The two combined are formidable. I don't have the answer, but I know that there is one.

she's a Debbie Downer. The danger in that is that so many people follow her. She has become very influential and her words carry weight. This kind of sentiment is demoralizing. It may lead to apathy. And that is MORE dangerous than Citizens United. I wish she and other would chill because I do believe that some of it led to our defeat in 2010. People just didn't care and so they stayed home. We don't need that, especially since the Republican/Teabaggers are so energized.

We can't afford to give up, Democrats. Turn off the t.v. and the radio if you have to. I, for one, am thinking very hard about taking a break. Right now, all I've been able to listen to is Randi and Stephanie. However, even Randi was sounding bad yesterday, and if that happens, then we're really fucked because Randi Rhodes is the most optimistic of all leftie talkers.

I remember something like that from the 2008 primaries, either Hillary or Obama had done something, and she basically barked too far up a wrong tree. Don't remember what it was, just remember her "going long" and thinking it was pretty shakey.

Rachel is one person and she has her flaws. This is one of them. Overall fine, but know when to let one of her speculations slide on by.

To say things like 'I'm a Debbie Downer, we are doomed, they win, lay down and die'. Her trappings are nice, but that is her essential message and the one she is paid to deliver. And she certainly does that. In 2008, there were fireworks and people shouting 'Yes We Can' out the windows, for Obama had won and she was still saying 'talk me down'....
