TPM: New Obama Campaign Ad Calls On Congress To Enact Jobs Plan

New Obama Campaign Ad Calls On Congress To Enact Jobs Plan

A new ad from the Obama campaign Thursday calls on Congress to enact President Obama’s plan to raise taxes on the very wealthy in order to fund jobs for cops and teachers.

“The president’s jobs plan would put teachers, firefighters, police officers and construction workers back to work right now,” the narrator says. “And it’s paid for by asking the wealthiest Americans to pay a little more.” The narrator then blames Congress for not passing Obama’s proposals and asks people to “tell Congress we can’t wait.”

The ad comes less than a week after May’s weak jobs report. The ad,“Jobs,” is airing in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. It will begin airing on national cable next week. The ad buy is “significant,” according to the Washington Post.

1. Good, but also Obama should be out there lambasting 'the do-nothing GOP congress'

and pointing out what they have passed (severe right wing social legislation) compared to what they haven't done--anything on jobs.

(I believe it was him) saying, November 2008, "Our number one priority is making sure Obama is a one-term president."

At least the Dems said that they would work with Bush43 ...

4. He should point out "the REPUBLICAN Congress" like Bill Clinton did.

Because although it's only true in the theoretical sense of the word since the Democrats are supposedly in the majority in the Senate, the Republicans control Congress and that's how it should be seen.

9. Weak sauce! I agree with the poster above, show Mitch "...make Obama a 1 term Pres.."

Then show those Repugs leaving their meeting that Newt said we would remember that date as the date the seeds of 2012 were sown. Then show all of the legislation they voted unanimously to kill. Have another one showing John Boner claiming his Congress will put jobs 1st, then show all of the Bills that they put forward at the begining of Obama's term. They were anything but jobs related, all obstructionist. Do another showing everything they filibustered. Do not let them blame Democrats for the economy and jobs. Hammer it over and over and over. Show America what they really are. Air ads all over Fox 24/7 pointing out their lies and obstructionism and how that has cost the average American worker $$$$! I am sure we can start to weaken their base. How about showing how they use the same old divisive arguments of abortion, gay rights, gun control... to divide us and distract from our real and more serious problems. Lastly, start talking about real campaign finance reform. All of us should start putting "CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM" at the end of every post!!! When you think about it, all of our problems stem from the fact that we have a bought Congress, and we are not the ones who own them. They were ours and now they are not!

Frustrated in Tx
If we do not do something fast, the rest of the country will be like my once proud state. Do you want public education starved to death? How about abstinence only sex Ed (highest teen birth rate), bankrupt gov, most minimum wage jobs, right to work (I mean be fired), and a corrupt dumb ass, entrenched Governor?

10. CEO pay

If companies would stop paying billions to CEOs that money could fund a lot of jobs. Plus we need more teachers and public servants. We are terribly underserved and government jobs are good jobs and help the economy.
