Related: About this forumPoll: Romney leads in Michigan
The trees may be the right height after all.
An EPIC/MRA poll out today shows Mitt Romney and Barack Obama in a statistical tie in Michigan, with Romney edging the president 46-45 percent.
The numbers are a reversal from April when the same poll had Obama up 47-43 percent.

Doesn't the EPIC/MRA poll lean a little Conservative? I think they showed Bush leading Gore in 2000.

(71,265 posts)...that they had the President ahead by 4% the last time so this is not a good trend. It may have some gop biased to it in the poll but always believe bad polls to some extent so that you can be prepared. Like in WI we know that the exit polls showed the President leading, yet his campaign is listing WI as a swing state. That is smart so that they will give WI the attention it needs to get. Don't get too scared yet unless other polls show the same thing. It may be a reaction to the WI election.

(4,667 posts)The RCP average of polls is the best indicator to use. RCP averages all of the polls so that biased and outlier numbers have less effect. The RCP average is deadly with its accuracy. It was so in 2008, 2010 and the RCP average even nailed the Walker recall election perfectly. Its really the only thing you need to look at. All other polls are just "pieces" of information.
Here are all of the Michigan polls below. See if you notice a trend from one polling firm?

EPIC-MRA is clearly a right wing pollster. They are very similar to the Civitas polling firm based out of North Carolina. Remember its not just the Poll. Its the source of the poll and the methodology. Rasmussen for instance has a scientifically proven right wing tilt to all of its numbers.
The truth is Obama currently has a 6 point lead in Michigan. While it is behind where he was in 2008, he is definitely ahead.
