It's the suburban and rural areas of Texas that are red. Even native son GWB only got 61%. McCain got 56%. Romney did a tad better with 57%. Of course if Jeb is the GOP candidate, he might do better. I don't see Trump doing well here. Cruz may do well in the primary, but he's not going to be the GOP nominee.

This is the map for the 2012 election.



Conversely, Texas has a lot of active military and veterans here that might throw their support to Sanders. All those red and deep red counties are pretty low in population. What we have to concentrate on is GOTV.
