When is Obama going to make an issue of the 'do nothing GOP congress'?

with their majority in the house and use of the filibuster in the Senate to block everything he has tried to do to move this economy ahead. He needs to be running a daily Trumanesque give-em-hell campaign linking their obstruction along with Romney's history of destroying companies with Bain. He has to keep the pressure on them for trying to saba toge the economy because as the Senate Minority Leader has said the #1 priority of the GOP was to make Obama a one term president (and they may get their wish). With the economy showing signs of slowing down again and unemployment still sluggishly high and perhaps rising--Obama has been on the defensive and it doesn't suit him--we need to get the spotlight right back on the GOP and Romney--fast. This shouldn't be something tried for a day or two and then discarded but continuous.

It probably isn't in Obama's nature to do this type of campaign--he is, after all, 'No drama Obama' but it may be the only way he can survive in November.

his people knew how to run a campagin. They knew how to respond to attacks in rapid order and keep on the offensive. Since Romney has pretty much sewn up the nomination it's been his campaign that has been on message and on target and Obama's campaign that has been a mess.

REALLY fillibustered anything. I didn't ask him just how he got that idea. It made me wonder if some hate radio show or FOX "News" is claiming that it's not a fillibuster unless they do the old school thing of actually standing up there and talking to run out the clock.

Of course they've fillibustered almost everything by forcing the Democrats to come up with 60 votes .

60 votes are required to invoke 'cloture' (the end of debate and deliberation on a proposed bill). The Republicans have merely asserted the 'threat of filibuster' to prevent cloture and the Dems play along with the theater and never force an actual filibuster.

I really think Reid should force the Repigs to carry out an actual filibuster. It would make a great TV dramatization of the 'Do-Nothing Congress'. I am at a loss as to why he and the Dem majority do not insist that Repigs act out their threat for the benefit of the national electorate.

If your volunteer is saying this to somehow defend Repigs, he is either dreadfully ignorant or willfully blind (or both). The Repigs have used the threat of the filibuster to obstruct the people's business from being deliberated and decided upon.

make my life complete. Obama's approval rating, imo, would jump from 50-75% instantaneously, were he to do so

7. I agree. The President does not have absolute power over our government. Congress plays a part.

I think the whole concept of blaming/crediting the President for everything is asinine. Certain members in the Senate foiled the President's agenda at every turn during his first 2 years (i.e. Tom Coburn and his damned (should be illegal) secret holds). And we know what happened during the last 2 years.

The President needs to start naming names. Yes, Truman is another President who had to deal with a "do-nothing" congress. Obama should be talking about his big Jobs and Infrastructure bill that the republicans rejected. He should ask what they didn't like about giving Americans jobs building up our infrastructure right here in the USA?!

snippets that they can use to twist and turn, then we would hear Obama MURDER Republicans.

I didn't believe it either until I saw his entire speech on Obama's YouTube page. You have to go there because the YouTube speeches are unedited and posted in its entirety.

I used to think that he wasn't going after Republicans ENOUGH, but trust me: HE IS!! And he's on fire!!

It's just that the Corporate Media refuses to show that aspect of the speeches.

However, I argue that President Obama can't do this alone! He needs QUALITY, LOYAL, and EFFECTIVE surrogates (not Bill Clinton, please). He needs the Democratic Party leaders out there SCREAMING at the top of their lungs. Harry Reid is too mild mannered and soft spoken. But where is Chuck Schumer? Where is Nancy Pelosi? Where are the Democrats?!??!

Why aren't they helping this president get the message out??!?!?!

He is talking about the do nothing congress, especially on the campaign trail. We are not hearing about the attacks on Forked Tongued Romney because the right winged media ( Fox News and CNN) are busy reporting every lie from the Romney campaign as if it were gospel. I admit that MSNBC is left biased , especially during primetime but they are not enough to counteract the lies comming from the right. If it were not for Alex Wagner, Ed Shultz , Al Sharpten, Lawrence O, MHP and Rachel Maddow we would almost be in the dark about Romney if we didn't have other sources of news. In my neck of the woods, Fox News is blasting on the Tv's of every business including business owned by so-called minorities. Right winged radio stations are also piped into the public schools. Also there are not enough democratic senators and congressmen/women defending Obama. They deal with the A-hole republicans daily. Why are they silent? I'm almost tempted to believe that some in the Democratic Party are hoping that Obama doesn't get re-elected.
