What Bernie was saying when the shouts got louder...

“Black people are dying in this country because we have a criminal justice system which is out of control, a system in which over 50% of young African American kids are unemployed. It is estimated that a black baby born today has a one in four chance of ending up in the criminal justice system.”

Rather than listen the protestors shouted him down. He never got to finish talking about it. About 9 minutes in.

I heard a gasp or two. Could be my imagination though I will rewatch the video, tomorrow at the earliest since I am going to be busy for the rest of the day on campaign stuff. I am positive I heard applause somewhere near the end of the speech Bernie finally gave. And I know that he is meeting with the leadership of the protesting group later on in the next couple of weeks. They will listen to him then and he will listen to them, it's all going to work out in the long run.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. We'll see. I really hope I'm wrong but politics is a sleazy and dirty business. They seem to have already formed an opinion of Sanders and I doubt if anything he can say will change that.

I strongly believe that black lives matters and that we as a nation have failed miserably in addressing what is happening to Black Americans in this county. Atrocity after atrocity is committed yet nothing is done and many want to ignore the problem or blame the victims (such as in bringing up black on black crime when you are trying to discuss the issue of black people being brutalized and murdered with impunity). We should be discussing the prison industrial complex, the unfair imprisonment of a generation of black men, but we are not. While there are a lot of racists in America, there are also a lot of people that just are not aware because we do not discuss these issues.

If all of the money and effort to manipulate our political system for the benefit of a few was used to address these issues, I think we would make progress. Too bad we won't. Keeping people divided helps maintain power.

We talked about it at the meeting tonight. And we are working on outreach with the community on the local level in Minnesota.

Bernie is an old man that doesn't care about black people.

I took a look at the facebook page for Black Lives Matter and noted the following comment on July 13, 2015: George Soros??
Does anyone know what they are referring to? I've read that Soros gives big money to many groups and that he supports Hillary:

Soros helps pro-Clinton Super PACs to $24 million haul

It wasn't O'Malley that was targeted. It was Sanders.

The fact that they would treat the only two candidates that would care to address this emergency for blacks in America is beyond sad. They need new leaders.

Question: Are black people dying because white supremacy?'

Answer: Black people are dying because the criminal justice system is messed up and high unemployment.

I totally get what he means. I support the guy. But as a matter of pure politics and communication this strategy is not working.

People see it as trying to evade the question of police, criminal justice, and racism, while refocusing on economics where he is more comfortable and politically it's less risky.

Yes this event was a clusterfuck. Definitely mismanaged. Possibly even a planned ambush

But still this kind of thing needs to be expected and he should be cool and prepared for it.

He says unemployment causes black people to end up in jail or even killed by cops. I get what he means but it can also sound like blaming the victims. I support him but he should practice some different answers. A small change in focus could go a long way here.

This is strange. The protestors started to walk out and told the host to end Bernie's interview 15 minutes early.

http://www.rawstory.com/2015/07/blacklivesmatter-co-founder-warns-presidential-candidates-we-will-shut-down-every-single-debate/#.VavP3ngKF58.twitter

“He couldn’t take 15 more minutes of the heat,” Cullors said of Sanders in an interview on This Week in Blackness, making reference to the senator ending his appearance as demonstrators at the event walked out en masse.

Journalist and activist Jose Antonio Vargas, who interviewed both Democratic candidates during the forum, later told The Raw Story that he was directed to wrap up his discussion with Sanders 15 minutes ahead of schedule.

Cullors told This Week host L. Joy Williams that she felt neither O’Malley nor Sanders were “humble enough” during their town hall appearance, and called on presidential candidates to be willing to openly discuss issues of race and gender.

“No more skirting around the issues,” Cullor said. “We will shut down every single debate.”

The Senator did not end the appearance. The Host did.

Not humble enough?

Obama is a black man who has not helped with income inequality at all.

Obama is a black man that has not helped bring back jobs to this country and is in fact attempting to send more jobs overseas.

Obama has not helped with the war on drugs at all, which sends an inordinate amount of black people to jail for no reason.

Why don't they follow and heckle him?

Because this whole group and this whole protest was a bunch of bullshit that was so obviously set up by another candidate/media to make Bernie look bad.

And the way you can tell, is the way the are just making up stuff about Bernie ruining his campaign, not caring about minorities and running with the stupidity hoping to brainwash others that don't realize what he was saying when he was interrupted.
