Give Bernie some respect, the guy isn't an idiot

1st off, I lean towards Hillary. I'll get that out of the way in full disclosure.
I see comments by Bernie supporters about the blm protest and come to the conclusion they aren't giving Bernie the credit he does deserve. I can't believe that in decades of political and activist life that Bernie's feelings would be so hurt by one disruption at an event that he would turn off dialogue to an important voting block. Seriously he may have been irritated but some of you are claiming blm is burning their bridges. Are you kidding? I give Bernie some credit here. He protested, he got in people's faces to be heard, he made people uncomfortable, he shouted, he pushed causes.
I like the guy but this goes for the rest of them too, the dem party is not owed anyone's vote. The candidate that does something about it will win.

I keep thinking, it must be nice to be so protected and so privileged that having your candidate's speech interrupted is such a tragedy that you think the ones doing the interrupting - you know, the ones who get gunned down daily just for their skin color - are just too out of line. Such an inconvenience!

I hope Bernie rises to the occasion and works with the BLM to hone his message to POC. If he's made of what I think he's made of, then I have faith that he can do it.

Now if the poor shocked white liberals who support Bernie would quit freaking out and see what they can do to help build better bridges with POC, life would be grand.

If a Republican is elected president nothing will change for the #blacklivesmatter movement, which isn't one helluva lot of difference from the way things have been for decades.

Meanwhile, the candidate that directly addresses their issues and gains their respect will most likely be the nominee.

Furthermore, BLM is perfectly prepared to forgo running the gauntlet and jumping through the hoops required to vote in 2016 should their issues fail to be addressed. It takes significant effort for POC to vote in this country, and if nobody gives a shit about their issues, why would they go to that effort?

Read my signature which is a direct quote from one of the young leaders of the BLM movement.

That should have every Democrat terrified.

You may be the good example of a Sanders supporter that they need to see.

Smart politicians are going to find a way to be part of the success of BLM achieving it's just objectives.

I agree with you. Bernie knows what is coming and when he gets blindsided it is a large mistake but he knows what to do. I hope he does it.

In the end we will see who actually moves to address the major issues that people want to hear about.

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

Not only does this nasty, needlessly aggressive post not come close to "discourse" but the idea that Democrats should "fuck" Black Twitter, a community of several thousand black voters is not a belief espoused by anyone that even remotely considers themselves to be liberal.

JURY RESULTS

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sun Jul 19, 2015, 10:08 PM, and the Jury voted 6-1 to HIDE IT.

Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Wow. I care. You are so far out of line you should be kicked off the site imho. Marym625
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Looks as if a little latent racism might be creeping into DU. This does not reflect the inclusiveness espoused the Democratic Party that I belong to.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

At the end he called for a political revolution. He also made it clear it is "we the people" that have to get involved!

I feel like he is channeling Eugene Debs.
