Bernie is the first primary candidate to address #blacklivesmatter & ifidieinpollicecustody

He is also the first to speak out and #sayhername

Bernie was always a supporter of civil rights and it is good to see he is listening to the frustration, and responding.

That's what a real representative of the people does, and it's so refreshing
to see how Bernie rolls with the punches and listens to dissent, and mostly
embraces it, to expand and refine his message.

GO Bernie GO!!

Some context: I am an epidemiologist who has dedicated my career to studying and solving health and health care inequities/disparities, both via on-the-ground public health partnerships with communities as well as from a "50,000 foot" national policy perch. I am White (though am often mistaken for Latino or Middle Eastern), a first gen college grad, from a very humble economic background, and am a fervent Bernie Sanders supporter.

I also believe that Bernie has to do a better job at linking his passion (income inequality) to issues of race, privilege and justice.

It is no surprise that the top 1/10 of 1% is white. He might want to point that out.
Free college is great, but the quality of education varies by neighborhood. Could be worth a mention.
POCs are more likely to have lower socioeconomic status. Maybe explicitly describe how his policies will potentially have a larger impact for those communities?
The supreme court is re-hearing a case that will likely end the use of race in college admissions - even if it's 1 of 100 variables considered. How would that impact opportunities for POCs?
Bernie worked to fund community health centers via the ACA. So important. But diabetics in low income neighborhoods who are told to watch what they eat and to exercise often live in places with no access to vegetables or safe places to walk/jog.

I'll stop there. Point is, there are additional conversations that could be had, that relate to his stated policies, that are very much about race and structural racism. I think he can very comfortably have those conversations. I hope someone who has is ear is adding this dialogue to his speeches.

much talk there is about it, until people have JOBS, as Bernie says, jobs that pay a livable wage, which he has pointed out, are needed even more in minority communities. He has outlined his plans to begin to provide those jobs.

He can TALK about the issues you mentioned, and has, but if people are unemployed, see his stats on unemployment in minority communities, I learned from him just how high they are, especially among the young, but that has to be followed by employment.

And he has also addressed the issue of prison and the disproportionate numbers of AAs who are in those prisons. All that money, he says, goes to incarceration rather than education.

Have addressed racism. None but Sanders has addressed the Black Lives Matter direct questions and concerns. He tweeted her name. He said it at the rally today. He has addressed the racial profiling, the brutality, the murders and he did it before ANY Federal official or Hillary Clinton when he was the first to address Ferguson

You can post all the links you want. You can belittle what he did last night and today all you want. It doesn't change the facts.

Bernie Sanders has been fighting racism, being actively involved in the fight and organizing protests, changing local police department and review boards, introducing bills throughout his career, and did #SayHerName and no other candidate has done any of that.

I will add that Senator O'Malley has responded with a fairly detailed plan of what he wants to do

It doesn't count because, you know, it's Hillary and she's just pandering.

Bernie gets an A++ if he remembers to mention it or makes a sloppy claim his dump speech naturally covers all that.
