"Whore" is never an acceptable term to use about any woman candidate, not even Fiorina

It doesn't matter if you mean it in the sense of currying favor with the 1%--it absolutely will be construed as sexual anyway. Absolutely unavoidable given the historical meaning of the term.

(Though I have often said that the difference between a whore and a sec worker is that there are things sex workers won't do for any amount of money.)

It's a word I wouldn't use, and don't like to see used.

That doesn't mean that I go into conniptions over it. And, frankly, I'd sooner see it used for a politician of either sex than for a sex worker.

Candidate, male or female. I hope you do not think it is okay to call a male a whore.

The tern "attention whore" is not going out of popular usage anytime soon. The problem with using it about men is, of course, the slippery slope.

This isn't the first gender slur that was used and it won't be the last.

And it's not just because I'm a girl, I don't think ANYONE should be called a whore on DU.

If you go there you deserve everything that comes your way.

It is a word that should never be used to describe anyone. But since Hillary is female people think it is ok to use when taking about her. I have too much respect for her to ever describe her in those terms. I also believe using it negates your argument and makes you look ignorant. Thanks

They're doing what they need to do to survive and frankly, they make the world a better place and possibly less dangerous in some ways. When it comes to politicians getting money from rich people, like the Koch's, that's a whole different story. I can kind of understand needing money to run a campaign, but some people - mostly republicans - are JUST in it for the money. They suck.

Prostitute: put (oneself or one's talents) to an unworthy or corrupt use or purpose for the sake of personal or financial gain.

I agree, to use the term whore, no matter the context, whether as a verb or a noun, in connection with any female candidate, is inviting censor.

It's difficult to find an acceptable synonym to describe politicians who deliberately use their talents to debase themselves by selling out democracy and the people of their country to corporations for personal gain.

Grifter is somewhat similar, and has unigender historical connotations, but doesn't have quite that same descriptive accuracy.
