Funny how you omit supporters of other candidates, as if none of them would go to Warren.
I feel like I've wandered onto a playground by mistake.

(24,853 posts)Then OTHER famous DUers (all belonging to the same safe haven at DU) would brand Biden a racist and start posting YouTube videos showing Joe Biden saying "In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking." Remember the picture in the "Not Good Enough" post; the one with the cops posing with the black man as a trophy? You know, the "Bernie's (not wink wink) a racist" picture? I'm wondering which one of them would find the first Indian gang-rape pic to post under Joe Biden's name.
They'd probably go so far as to accuse Joe Biden of plagiarism for using three of the very same words Hillary Clinton used in a speech from 2007.

I don't intend to drop Bernie for anyone unless I learn things about him that tell me he is not what I thought. What do you think the chances of that are? Hey I know, maybe you should make a thread about that too!
It is so nice y'all have so much interest in us and our motivations.

(34,109 posts)not landing on Sanders supporters now is it? I would be embarrassed to be writing crap like this.
I wonder what Hillary's supporters would do if Bill got in the race...or or or or what if he was her VP? Would the women leave because of his philandering ways? Hmmmm??
This is too funny to even pay any attention to but for some reason I felt like I had to. I think I will perhaps slide another onto a list I have so I don't feel tempted to get snarky and say things like shit when I shouldn't.

This is wickedly brilliant and clearly written by people who have seen the cynical, self-involved, boundlessly ambitious nature of some politicians, as well as the infighting of senior staffers anxious to claim credit for others' work and duck responsibility for their own screwups. Julia Louis-Dreyfuss has deservedly won many awards, as has the show.
Veep has received critical acclaim and won several major awards. It has been nominated three years in a row for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, its second season won the Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Comedy Series, and its third season won the TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy. It joins The Office, 30 Rock, and Modern Family as the only comedy series since 2000 to win awards from both the Screen Actors Guild and the Writers Guild of America in the same year. Louis-Dreyfus has won three consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards, one Screen Actors Guild Award, two Critics' Choice Television Awards and one Television Critics Association Award for her performance.

(17,218 posts)Among Democrats and those leaning toward the Democratic Party, Clinton picked up the support of 51%, down from 57% in June and 60% in April.
Sanders came in second with 17 percent, followed by former Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley and former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb with 1 percent each. Lincoln Chafee, the former governor and senator from Rhode Island, registered no support.

(957 posts)Wonder what the Clinton supporters would do if Eliza beth Warren decided to run?Because she would peel more votes from Hillary then from Bernie . Joe Biden would pull more votes from Hillary, but I doubt he is interested in VP again. We all know Elizabeth has said she is not running but the possibility of Vp for her well now that is something to speculate.I see a future run for Warren however.1 st woman prez very well could be Elizabeth Warren

There is a vested pride that would ruin all of their previous "talking" points. In other words, They've gotta stick with what they said. Now that it's all been put down in writing and searchable, blatant hypocrisy would not seem a wise choice. But likely the ballot box may not see that overt loyalty.

(231 posts)In 1968 many liberal anti-Vietnam Democrats were urging Robert Kennedy to run for the nomination against Lyndon Johnson. Kennedy declined. The anti-war Democrats second choice was Eugene McCarthy.
McCarthy ran, and much to everyone's surprise came within a hair's-breadth of defeating a sitting president in the New Hampshire primary. Johnson soon decided he was not going to run for re-election.
Then -- after McCarthy had tested the waters and driven Lyndon Johnson from the race -- Robert Kennedy changed his mind and declared his candidacy. McCarthy and Kennedy ended up splitting the anti-war Democratic vote in the primaries, ensuring the nomination of Hubert Humphrey.
My hope (and belief) is that Sen. Warren is not as opportunistic as Robert Kennedy and will not reverse herself and decide to run now that Bernie Sanders is showing the strength of the liberal wing of the party. Donno.
Iliyah
(25,111 posts)The United States of America was in a full blown war in Vietnam. The Democratic Party asked Pres. Johnson to step aside. President Lyndon Johnson was a champion for human rights.
Bagsgroove
(231 posts)I don't know how you get your title "Eugene McCarthy became President of the United States?" from what I wrote. Anyway, no "the Democratic Party" did not ask Johnson to step aside. He was in fact running for re-election and only dropped out after McCarthy's strong showing in New Hampshire.
The New Hampshire primary was on March 12. McCarthy won 42% of the vote, Johnson 49%. Against a sitting president, such a showing was a stunning upset. Robert Kennedy announced his run two days later, and Johnson dropped out a couple weeks after that. The only way the Democratic Party "asked" Johnson to step aside was by demonstrating in New Hampshire that there was a strong chance he'd be humiliated if he stayed in the race.
And nobody is denying that Johnson was a champion for human rights, unless of course you happened to be a Vietnamese human.

(46,179 posts)She was quite clear that she is not running. That's why the "Ready For Warren" group endorsed Bernie. She's not running.
I know it would relieve some of your tension if someone jumped into the race to split the non-Hillary vote in a substantial way.
It's not happening.

(14,459 posts)But Senator Warren already has her work cut out for her where she is, and I would prefer not to lose another Dem that's on our side in the Senate.
It would be nice if Al Gore was running too on a combating climate change platform, but last time he tried to try out the race he started reflexively triangulating again.

(27,670 posts)I was for Elizabeth before she said she wouldn't run. I was hoping to have a female candidate with integrity that i could feel good about voting for. When Bernie hinted at running, I jumped right on his bus.
If Elizabeth did decide to run, I would continue to support Bernie.
Liberal Dems don't sell out their people.
And from all that I've learned about Bernie, it is clear that Bernie is by far the most awesome all around candidate we've had for the Dem nomination since Bobby Kennedy.
Fearless
(18,421 posts)Bagsgroove
(231 posts)Bobby Kennedy is, of course, the awesome candidate who declined to run in early 1968 because he didn't think it was possible to defeat Lyndon Johnson for the nomination. He jumped in to the race only two days after Eugene McCarthy had demonstrated in New Hampshire that an anti-war candidate could possibly defeat a sitting president for the nomination. This split the anti-war part of the party between Kennedy and McCarthy. (Liberal Dems do in fact sell out their people. You could ask Eugene McCarthy.) It also ensured the nomination of Hubert Humphrey, and led to the election of Richard Nixon.
My hope is that Elizabeth Warren is more awesome than Robert Kennedy, and not so opportunistic.
