I don't have to. I knew it was phonied from the start, and so did many others. We were watching Colin Powell on TV, and several people were inspired to yell "Bullshit!" at the TV. I know many politicians feel they had to vote for giving Bush a blank check, knowing he would invade Iraq. I feel the only proper course for them now is to admit their mistakes and offer an honest explanation of why they did it. Some examples: "I was a coward." "My constituents were all fired up and flooded my office with demands to start a war." "I wanted revenge for the 9/11 attacks, and Saddam was a convenient target." "I was afraid of being perceived as weak." And so on. Time to come clean, everybody. Truth and reconciliation.

particularly because she is a woman,
she could not afford to look "weak" by voting against the war,
or it would play against her in a future presidential race.

It was also much easier to go along with the crowd on that issue, at the time.

It was calculating, sure. I don't defend it.

I would have preferred she had chosen to stand with Ted Kennedy, Bernie Sanders, and a few others who opposed it.

....looks bad. Starting a senseless war and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people, tying the war to 911....that looks worse than bad. That is a crime.

I do not have a dog in this fight yet but what I was reminded of is startling. Why..does ..hillary..read.. in ....such.... a ..halting ...voice. Even when it is something that should be easy and from the heart. She has started this on the campaign trail and it feels very insincere. In fact, when I hear it I feel that it is a tell that she is not being truthful.

Back in the day when these videos were done I was screaming that 911 did not have anything to do with Iraq! We were having peace vigils twice a week and calling every Congress critter to share our opinion. How did Hillary think to tie 911 to Iraq? This is a serious question! How would our world be different had there been no war? Take two minutes and ponder that.......
