Draft Joe Biden Movement Gains As Democratic Voters Express Unease About Hillary

OK, you're a Democrat and you're not happy with your choices for president. You just can't get excited about Hillary or Bernie -- or the lesser known Martin or Jim or Lincoln.

So what do you do?

Maybe you try to convince Vice President Joe Biden to get in the race.

The loquacious former senator from Delaware has reached for the brass ring more than once during his long career, and he's getting up there in years. (He's 72, five years older than frontrunner Hillary Clinton.) But there appears to be an opening for him in the 2016 campaign.

A recent Monmouth University poll indicates that Biden "would shake up the race" for the Democratic nomination, the Hill newspaper reports. He has support from 13 percent of Democratic voters in the poll, and a further 12 percent said they'd back him if he actually got in the race.

The bad news for Hillary Clinton: More than two-thirds of those voters who say they'd get behind an official Biden campaign would be switching their allegiance from Hillary. Meaning lefty firebrand Bernie Sanders' support appears to be locked in, while the more middle-of-the-road Clinton's is squishy. (Clinton has 51 percent in the Monmouth poll, Sanders 17 percent.)

I'd like to see what Al Gore's up to these days and if he even considers throwing his hat in the ring.

Biden is beloved..

I am a full out Martin O'Malley supporter..

But from my little corner of the world.. Joe Biden is beloved.. and a good Democrat... and Martin O'Malley is the liberal juice we need.

There is a whole group talking Biden/O'Malley.. love them (the Biden/O'Malley people) dearly.. love Joe Biden dearly.. but I would like to see Martin take the executive seat after President Obama

Their thoughts on it are basically as follows:

If Joe would at least run for one term to keep the Presidents social programs in place till they get instilled into the fabric of our economy and public mind.. like medicare did.. and then Martin would be a much more familiar face to the country.. and a great way to bring in a more liberal agenda for jobs, and the environment..with is Presidency..

They are looking for a 12 year monopoly of the executive branch.. at least till we can flush out all the 2010 gerrymandered politicians who are in the congress now.. and maybe we can get back the house or senate..

And in the meantime, maybe, just maybe we can win back a bunch of those state houses we also lost in 2010

Always have a back up plan I say.. and that is theirs..

If Joe were in the race, he would be my third choice among the current field.

For me, as loveable as he can be, I can't forgive him for Clarence.

it took mountains to be moved to unite the party and offering Hillary a cabinet spot. The wounds closed but the scars are still there. saying Bill was enjoyable "in doses?"

Filling Biden ' s head with the idea that he will go anywhere needs to be sued for malpractice. Senator from the banking free for all state? Chairman of the Senate judiciary for the Clarence Thomas hearings? The butt of many viral videos and jokes about creepy invasions of women's personal space? He's only polling as well as he does because he's the Vice President. Please no.

Overall, he's a bit better on the issues. But obviously Sanders is much better than either.

But I'd welcome this just to help take down the tiring Clinton is inevitable meme.
