Related: About this forumIt looks like Ecuador will give Assange asylum
I was reading a news article in an Ecuadorian newspaper about the fact that a decision has not been made about whether Ecuador will grant Julian Assange (founder of Wikileaks) political asylum. But by reading what the Ecuadorian President (Rafael Correa) had to say about Assange, I am left with little doubt that assylum will be granted. Here's an excerpt, translated by me to English:
Assange "wants to go to Ecuador to continue fulfilling his mission for freedom of expression without limits, because our country is a peaceful territory committed to justice and truth," said the president of Ecuador.
If in Ecuador 'to someone you have done one hundredth part of what they did to Assange, we would be called dictators and oppressors, "said Correa.

So he would have to spend the rest of his life inside.
