2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDo you think starting a 'funding thread' is a good idea?
I am thinking about starting a recurring thread in the general discussion forum to encourage people at DU to really push ourselves to continue donating to President Obama's reelection. I have already donated triple to the Obama campaign what I donated to his first presidential election.
But since we are hearing about the campaign's funding woes in the news, including a recording of the President, (whether true or not), I really wanted to push myself to donate as much as I can.
My idea behind a "funding thread", "support thread" or whatever you want to call it is, anyone who posts in the thread holds themselves (by the honor system) to donating at least $5 to the Obama campaign.
Does anyone think this is a good or bad idea? If you like the idea, I welcome any suggestions on how you think I should word the opening post.
Thanks.

(17,693 posts)I'd like to bring back the bat...there was something really satisfying (and a little addictive) about watching that red line hit the goal.
I gave $. I don't have yesterday...I'll do it again every month and will do more every chance I can.
I am a tiny donor but there are lots and lots of us. Right?

(28,151 posts)Damn but the Dean campaign was fun and exciting! I had a great time, met some of the most awesome people and learned so very much!
But I'll tell ya what, that sting at the end...yeah, I will NEVER get so involved in primaries again!
Still, that bat graphic brings back exciting memories.

(4,840 posts)With over 30,000 posts you have way more street cred here than I do so I just made a donation and bumped your thread. We have to push ourselves. I will add your thread to my sig so I remember to bump it regularly.

(4,840 posts)If it's any consolation I can't really afford anymore contributions and I've already given triple what I gave Obama in his first election and I'm still pushing myself to give more (hence this thread). The distinct possibility of the Romney camp outspending us has me scared.
Thank you for your sacrifice!
