(55 posts)Sanders is not attracting teabaggers. Sanders are attracting *DISAFFECTED* voters who see no difference between the Democratic and the Republican Party - and can't really decide who's the lesser of two corporate evils. What Bernie doing is giving an voter a REAL option of voting for themselves - as in voting for the issues that Bernie can take care of. Thus, the attraction from all political spectrum. Unfortunately, since Clinton is running a personality-based campaign, there is no real interest in Clinton, other than the Establishment Democrats. Clinton can't muster any enthusiasm or give voters reason to vote for her - they see her as the status quo, same as the Republicans.
Bernie is running a pure people-powered campaign (no SuperPACs) , and tapping into all possible avenues to increase his name recognition.

(10,721 posts)You think tea party types and other right wingers are supporting the self-described socialist, Sanders? What do you base that on?

look, the reality is. i stated fact. your conversation went inot ridiculous story telling or pretend or redefining that i had no interest reading.
so, i am not even sure what you are waiting for.

(10,721 posts)I don't know what "your conversation went inot ridiculous story telling or pretend or redefining that i had no interest reading" is even supposed to mean.
I'm simply asking you to provide justification for your claim that tea party types would support Bernie Sanders. Saying "i stated fact" does not constitute evidence.

(10,721 posts)Tea Party types express polar opposite views. You either have a severe misunderstanding of what Sanders is saying or what Tea Party types have to say. Sanders promotes socialism, which Tea Party types consider to be pure evil (in spite of the fact that every single person in the US benefits from socialized programs).

(34,115 posts)then perhaps they are finding out finally that they were so angry because the only thing that will work for them is what he is saying, not what they have been supporting. If that is so perhaps they will also find out that they are NOT teabaggers or RWers after all. I know a few people who have already discovered that. (I live in teabagger land so it is easy for me to find them and talk to them)
Knowing Sanders I don't fear a large teabagger contingency influencing his policies. I mean really, is he going to start deporting people because they ask him to or not dealing with the prisons or the economy because they tell him to or go willy nilly into another war for oil?
If he were a different politician with his finger in the air looking for the answers I would worry about this but as far as I can tell he does not compromise good, solid policy for the every day person easily.

(110,159 posts)So, Tea Party types were promoting things like income equality/poverty reduction, gun control, increased regulation, greater environmental protection, etc., etc., etc.???
On what planet did that take place?

(22,308 posts)Expanding Free Public Education To Include College and Pre-K.... Legalize Marijuana....
The list goes on and on. Teabaggers, of '08 or any other year, are against all of these things.

(8,636 posts)We've had a consistently low voter turnout, especially among young people mostly due to disillusionment and disaffection. Obama won by giving people, again - especially young people - a reason to hope again.
It's going to be hard to ask them to get their hopes up again, when they've had those hopes betrayed so many times; but that's what we need to do if we're going to win.

They polled about 400 of each (using 55% land lines and 46% cell phones).

(10,721 posts)But he is what Democrats are supposed to be. Tea Party types are the polar opposite of Sanders. Seriously, your suggestion that he and Tea Party types have the same views is so incredibly outrageous that all I can figure is you have a severe misunderstanding of what those views are.

He uses and campaigns on middle class working class asking them for their vote.
Enough with soft coating and redefining to make your argument.
Or arguing I am calling sanders a democrat, repug or bagger
Garrett78
(10,721 posts)I honestly can't make sense of what you're trying to say. You seem to be making this more complex than it is.
Let's simplify. You likened Sanders to Tea Party types. But his views are the polar opposite of what Tea Party types stand for. Period.
seabeyond
(110,159 posts)i STATED he is campaigning to middle and working class of the repugs, teabaggers, libertarian, democrats, independents and populist.
Garrett78
(10,721 posts)You wrote, "Listen to the baggers of 08. They eeee saying the same thing as sanders"
I assume the "eeee" was supposed to be "were." Anyway, you clearly stated that Sanders is saying the same things that Tea Party types say. And that's absurd.
