Sanders is not attracting teabaggers. Sanders are attracting *DISAFFECTED* voters who see no difference between the Democratic and the Republican Party - and can't really decide who's the lesser of two corporate evils. What Bernie doing is giving an voter a REAL option of voting for themselves - as in voting for the issues that Bernie can take care of. Thus, the attraction from all political spectrum. Unfortunately, since Clinton is running a personality-based campaign, there is no real interest in Clinton, other than the Establishment Democrats. Clinton can't muster any enthusiasm or give voters reason to vote for her - they see her as the status quo, same as the Republicans.

Bernie is running a pure people-powered campaign (no SuperPACs) , and tapping into all possible avenues to increase his name recognition.

I don't know what "your conversation went inot ridiculous story telling or pretend or redefining that i had no interest reading" is even supposed to mean.

I'm simply asking you to provide justification for your claim that tea party types would support Bernie Sanders. Saying "i stated fact" does not constitute evidence.

Tea Party types express polar opposite views. You either have a severe misunderstanding of what Sanders is saying or what Tea Party types have to say. Sanders promotes socialism, which Tea Party types consider to be pure evil (in spite of the fact that every single person in the US benefits from socialized programs).

Thu Aug 20, 2015, 05:21 PM
Aug 2015

then perhaps they are finding out finally that they were so angry because the only thing that will work for them is what he is saying, not what they have been supporting. If that is so perhaps they will also find out that they are NOT teabaggers or RWers after all. I know a few people who have already discovered that. (I live in teabagger land so it is easy for me to find them and talk to them)

Knowing Sanders I don't fear a large teabagger contingency influencing his policies. I mean really, is he going to start deporting people because they ask him to or not dealing with the prisons or the economy because they tell him to or go willy nilly into another war for oil?

If he were a different politician with his finger in the air looking for the answers I would worry about this but as far as I can tell he does not compromise good, solid policy for the every day person easily.

We've had a consistently low voter turnout, especially among young people mostly due to disillusionment and disaffection. Obama won by giving people, again - especially young people - a reason to hope again.

It's going to be hard to ask them to get their hopes up again, when they've had those hopes betrayed so many times; but that's what we need to do if we're going to win.

and Republicans (or Rep-leaning people) about the Republican primary candidates. (see instrument here, page 8, Q F1)

They polled about 400 of each (using 55% land lines and 46% cell phones).

The sample size is 802. The margin of error, including design effects due to post-stratifcation is +/-4.3 percentage points for the full sample. For the Republican presidential primary the sample size is 334 with a margin of error, including design effect, of =/-6.6 percentage points. The Democratic primary sample size is 396 with a margin of error, including design effect of +/-6.1 percentage points.
