Democrat: GOP showing 'double standard' in demand for Clinton emails

Democrat: GOP showing 'double standard' in demand for Clinton emails

"SNIP.................

“Colin Powell did not have a goddamn email available for us,” Lynch said. “Zero, zero.”

“It was the same thing with Condoleezza Rice,” he added. “There was not a goddamn email that was useful to the committee.”

Lynch argued the GOP-led Congress is hounding Clinton because she is a prominent Democrat and presidential candidate.

“So why is it OK that Colin Powell, you know, in launching a war in Iraq, to not have a single available email, it’s OK for that, but Hillary Clinton, you know, she turns over 30,000 of them and you know that’s not enough, we want more information?” he asked.

e-mail investigation may lead to places they won't want to go.

It's beyond me why it doesn't die because if you look at it from the big picture,

A high ranking public official has staff set up email so they can do their job.
They do their job, life goes on.
Well after leaving that job, some reporters stir up a kerfuffle over classified info that might have been in some of the emails that went to what amounted to a private server.
The government is embarrassed into investigating the matter due to the level of publicity.

The BS fans will crucify this post, that's fine. But ask yourself a few questions:

Is anyone alleging the mail server set up was done by Hillary? No
Is anyone alleging Hillary dictated a private server or any particular technology be used? No.
Is anyone alleging Hillary masterminded or otherwise directed ow to pull the emails, clearing the server? No.
Is anyone alleging Hillary was the originator of an e-mail that used classified information? No.
Is anyone alleging Hillary forwarded an e-mail that used classified information that was marked classified? No.
Is anyone alleging the use of private e-mail accounts by others in this job was illegal as those e-mails would be on servers out of the control of staff? No.
Is anyone alleging any damage occurred by use of private e-mails by Hillary or her predecessors? No.

In the end I get it's great theatre, fun to hit her over the head with, but it has no possibility of resulting in escalation...none.

The problem is that some of us had problems with the Republicans doing this and have problems with democrats doing it. I had problems back when Ohio farmed its voting servers to private companies who shared servers with the Republican Party.

If you had problems with Republicans running their own private networks and do not with HRC, you also have a problem with a double standard.

Personally, I want our SOS (both republicans and democrats) to use government email available for FOI requests. I do not want them to set up their own systems in private. If the government email system is not good enough, I want our SOS to fix it not go around setting up one for herself and leaving the State Department email system not good enough.

I don't really care to go to the issue of what was on HRC's emails. It is not necessary to go to details of what those emails contained or didn't contain to avoid being hypocritical. Smote the mote from your own eye and you might find that you have a more consistent position on government secrecy.
