2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumJerry Brown for president in '16?
I'm not adding more fuel to the fire, but watching California Gov. Jerry Brown's interview on Meet the Press, yesterday, why doesn't he run for president in '16? He has the credentials, he is the governor of America's most important states, he was reelected to an unprecedented fourth term in the 2014 midterms. He would be 78 in November 2016, but he looks healthy and fit for the presidency. Brown has done a magnificent job as California governor, cleaning up the mess of Arhnold. Brown should give the presidency one more try, in my honest opinion. The more Democrats that run, the better it can be.

(60,536 posts)California Gov. Jerry Brown said in an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press" that if he were 10 years younger, he would run for president in 2016.
In Sunday's interview, the 76-year-old Democratic governor told Chuck Todd, "I can't say. I've ran three times, so if I could go back in a time machine and be 66, I might jump in."
In the past year, Brown has not shut the door entirely on a presidential run. But his current age leads many to believe that he is too old to run for president. Brown ran for president in 1976, 1980 and 1992, but never became the Democratic nominee.
Brown said the potential candidates for 2016 should be focused on the budget, climate change and investments in science, technology and the nation's universities.

(27,315 posts)He does not think CA needs an absentee governor.
This gave me more respect for him, compared to all these seating governor on the other side (Christie, Jindal, Walker, Kasich, ...) who think they can do their job and run at the same time.

(14,449 posts)I still think that they should have to resign their seats to run for president. Why should anyone get paid for running across America eating pork on a stick, BBQ and corn dogs and still get their primary salary. I always thought this was wrong.

(40,416 posts)Not because I do not like him. I do. Very much.
But like he has said, he would run if he was a decade younger. I agree with that.
Why won't others let it go at that? One wonders.
