2. Within limits, they still do

Degree of consanguinity, age, residency, etc., we do have 50 states with different marriage laws, and will continue to do so.

It is simply that, whatever their rules are, they can't discriminate on the basis of race, gender, etc. under the 14th Amendment.

But, yeah, they can each decide if first cousins can or can't get married, for example.

4. Huckleberry was asked about inter-racial marriage

Said it's OK as long it's between a man and a woman.
But he said inter-racial marriage is the law of the land,
whereas same sex marriage was just an opinion by five unelected judges.

6. It is a crazy argument, but what he was trying to do

was to say that because it is/was illegal to discriminate based on race it is not the same thing.

It is still legal to discriminate based on sexual orientation. Therefore he wants to carry that discrimination farther than the SCOTUS will allow.

The rational conclusion to his argument is to make it illegal to discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation in any and all instances. Simply protect this minority the same way we protect racial minorities and the matter is settled, even to Huckster's standards.

Of course in his Bizzaro World view, he doesn't see that outcome. He only sees more unfairness. He can't imagine actually being fair.

5. When there are digging a hole....

The (R)s look insane to the general public on this. The (R)s like Huckster who are playing to the base and make the sane ones look like traitors.

I say more power to them. Let the crazies make all the noise they want. Let their party drive out anyone who might be acceptable to a moderate in the General Election.

Why aren't we hearing more from Santorum on this? Where the hell is Sarah Palin on this? Roll them all out. The more clowns the merrier.
