WMUR Granite State (NH) Poll: Obama 49 Romney 45

DURHAM, N.H. - Despite more Granite Staters disapproving of the job he has done, President Barack Obama still holds a slim lead over Republican Mitt Romney in a new poll.

The WMUR Granite State Poll shows that 49 percent of likely New Hampshire voters said they will vote for Obama, compared to 45 percent who plan to vote for Romney. In April, Obama held a 9-point lead over Romney.

The poll of 521 New Hampshire adults was conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center by landline and cellphone from July 5 through July 15. The margin of sampling error for the survey is plus or minus 4.3 percentage points.

My comments:

NH is a bit of bellweather for independents/moderates. A 4 point lead is good news to me.

1. I'm glad he's leading, but he was up 51-42 in their last poll...

Historically NH tends to be an R leaning state so being up by 4 is not bad at this point... imo.

Their Republican-leaning ways are a thing of the past. You're a little behind.

9. That article doesn't say NH is right-leaning

We're talking about Presidential elections, yet your "evidence" to back up the claim that NH is right-leaning is an article that states that NH is relatively more right-leaning now than it was in 2008 (as is the case in many states because Obama vs. McCain was not a tight contest).

NH is not a Republican-leaning state when it comes to Presidential elections. You are many years behind.

LOL.

Here let me make it very easy to understand..

Suppose we had selected a weak candidate and the Republicans had nominated a more reasonable candidate that wasnt a complete idiot like Romney. In that scenario I think NH would be the only state that might be in danger of going R of all the NE states. Is that simple enough for you?

8. New Hampshire is hardly a lock for Democrats.

As recently as 2004, Kerry won NH by a mere 1.4%, when he basically had home court advantage living right next door. And of course in 2010 the teabagger Ayotte won her Senate race by more than 20%, and we lost both House seats. Dems would be foolish to take things for granted in that state.

I told them I strongly support the President.

Lots of questions about health care, too.

Not a lot of electoral votes, but yeah, somewhat of a bell weather for indies.

By rights, Pres Obama should be winning by a landslide, but I'll take any win.
