Regarding Republicans calling for Romney to release his tax returns

Last edited Tue Jul 17, 2012, 11:45 PM - Edit history (1)

I think it is a stretch to give any conservative in this era the benefit of the doubt that they want him to release his tax returns because it is the right thing to do.

They overestimated him as a candidate running against a slate of nincompoops, fanatics and nutcases in GOP primaries that favored the richest sociopath.

Now they underestimate just what a Costco-size box of "Pandora Helper" these returns are.

They think it would just show income from Bain and some years of little or no income tax. The Republicans that want him to release the returns think they can spin those things enough to minimize the damage.

If it was just those problems, we would see the returns by now.

I'm pretty sure that the returns would shock even his most loyal supporters. Indeed they may reveal things like huge betrayals of partners, investors, Olympic supporters and political allies. If was just stuff that would outrage liberals, they would consider it a point of pride.

And get his testimony again? If he's wasn't lying, then I think he can move on. They just scream louder and get their way. With Citizens United, we should expect more of this from future Repuke candidates. Eventually they will show nothing and we "will" like it.

Are they so dumb? Something doesn't add up. If they're not dumb then they simply hate his azz.

And they know they will need time to repair the damage, whatever it is, so they want it out as soon as possible.

A lot of Republicans I think see the handwriting on the wall for Mitt's disastrous campaign. So, in calling for him to release his returns, they can claim to have integrity (HAH!), and have more hope of winning their own races.
