(23,765 posts)also projections show that Texas, AZ, NV, CO are getting more and more Hispanic voters who are overwhelmingly Democratic..can you imagine being able to pretty much lock up NY, CA and TX? thats 122 EV's almost halfway there with just 3 states...

It would take a Constitutional Amendment to change this. I would not support such an amendment without the additional Constitutional guarantee of the right to vote, which the fucking Republicans are doing so much to erode that right. Shit! Some of them are even saying that voting is a privilege.
So, no. No electoral college change until we fix to the bigger voting problems. This year, the electoral college is our biggest advantage for turning a close election into a mandate. Just look at the numbers on the various electoral count maps. It's advantage Obama almost anyway you cut it.
You are right in principle. But now isn't the time. And it would take a year or two to get it through the various states anyway.

(417 posts)Romney has a very narrow path and Obama has many. If Romney doesn't win Ohio or Florida he's screwed. His path becomes almost impossible then...
Electorally it looks great for President Obama.
