2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI almost miss Junior Bush.
I think George Bush is the worst president in American history but I almost miss him. I almost miss watching David Gregory dance on stage with Karl Rove and I almost miss watching Dick Cheney on one of his quail "hunting" adventures on those private ranges. A few hundred dead birds in one day seemed a little much back then but when I compare that to the Repuplican Slime-A-Thon going on today.....well, I miss Junior Bush.
Today`s Republicans should come right out and say...."It`s the Black man, stupid." I mean, put it right out there. Forget the underhanded mentions of Kenya and Rev. Wright and birth certificates and arugula. Republicans know....he`s just not one of us and they`re pissed off that he`s pretending to be. Get Obama out of the White House and replace him with someone more American and regular. Like Mitt. Romney apparently had as many "other priorities" as Dick Cheney during the Vietnam War, so they kind of match. That`s what this country needs. More people that match. Romney is white, rich and (in his own words) isn`t worried about the very poor. He`s absolutely perfect for the top spot on a Republican ticket and if the only way they can win is to make laws that erect barriers between Non-Whites and their voting booths, so be it. USA! USA! USA!
With someone as malleable as Romney in the White House, corporations can go hog wild and behind-the-scene Romney handlers can bomb Iran and restart the Iraq War, maybe even on the same day. They can finally destroy Socialist Healthcare, make plans to "get the Gay out" where necessary and start banning any books containing the word contraception. They can hold hearings about the infiltration of the Muslim Brotherhood in the government and get rid of all those programs and agencies that have done so much damage like Headstart, Pell Grants, EPA, OSHA and others. These Real Americans know that because we live in a Trickle-Down country, we can`t be handing out food stamps when we really need to give tax breaks to the 1%-ers. The top earners are the job creators and they need our help so things can start trickling down, right?
Maybe I should make cleaning rags out of my old 60`s tee shirts and call it a day. There may be fewer people with water hoses and German Shepherds on the sidewalks but I think their trained offspring are working at the Republican National Headquarters. It`s really sickening.

(398 posts)They won't react positively. Don't say it to people affected by the economic disaster created by Bush's deregulation either.
Proud Liberal Dem
(24,438 posts)but he and the rest of the GOP hadn't gone "Tea Party ugly" yet and he has always seemed to respect Obama plus I think he had some genuine concern about immigration reform (that his party, unfortunately, didn't share). He and Cheney almost seem "moderate" compared to what we're dealing with today. Excuse me. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Off snark, I miss George w Bush too. I miss that he is not in the news reporting on his and his co-conspirators trial at the Hague.
