Dems have an enthusiasm problem

Gallup Poll: "Democrats are significantly less likely now (39%) than they were in the summers of 2004 and 2008 to say they are 'more enthusiastic about voting than usual' in the coming presidential election. Republicans are more enthusiastic now than in 2008, and the same as in 2004."

Well, I was not enthusiastic in 2008 nor am I in 2012.
Can I just say, that I am sufficiently scared enough that Romney might win that I am voting. I was also sufficiently scared enough to vote in 2008 due to Palin. Supposedly, Palin is also the better candidate, McCain says so.

but I can't really blame people on our side who are unenthusiastic. Every election is pretty much a matter of voting against the GOPhers. Don't get me wrong--Democrats have done some good things and PBO did things like bailing out the auto industry, killing OBL, and steadily lowering unemployment. But many times, the guys on our side are still too passive when it comes to fighting the GOPhers and too willing to compromise, and I think they are trying too hard to win moderate voters instead of strengthening their base. When you look at some of PBO's policies such as continuation of the Drug War, the record number of deportations, and delaying the closure of Guantanamo Bay, they border on being RW policies.
Now as for the GOPhers being more enthusiastic now than 4 years ago, I find that hard to believe judging from how Willard Robme always has trouble drawing crowds. This is the same guy who only drew 1,200 for a 65K capacity stadium! And whenever you look at the crowds, nobody ever looks that excited. Everyone at his rallies has a grim and glazed expression on their faces.
