Prescription Drug Costs Are Rising as a Campaign Issue

Mr. Sanders introduced a bill in Congress this month, spelling out a host of policy changes to drive down drug costs. Mrs. Clinton tweeted on Monday that her plan would be released Tuesday, and her campaign has released some details.

Mr. Sanders said that hearing about this difficulty in obtaining needed medicines motivated his proposal. “It is totally absurd that if somebody does have health insurance and they walk into a doctor’s office and the doctor writes a prescription, they can’t fill it,” he said in an interview. “What sense is that?”

Both candidates’ proposals include provisions that would allow Americans to import drugs from Canada, and that would allow the Medicare program to negotiate with drug makers when purchasing medications for the program. The Sanders plan also would require companies to share more information about their research and development costs, and increase penalties on pharmaceutical companies found guilty of fraud. The Clinton plan would impose a requirement that drug companies spend a set percentage of their revenues on research and development, and would cap the amount insurance companies could ask customers to pay each month for their medications to $250.

compromises, or is he going to join Clinton in trying to improve Obamacare. Because if Bernie's plan is to get into office and go Single Payer or bust, then prescription drug prices are going to stay exactly where they are.

So Clinton has a $250 monthly copay cap. Big deal. They will just raise their premiums.

Plus your argument is false. Adjusting the price of prescription drugs doesn't rule out working on national health care (NOT health insurance).

The pertinent question is how to improve and expand Obamacare.

and I told it to Bernie's site. I don't know if he got to know about it but it absolutely shows how deceptive they (Big Pharma) are which I think Bernie already knows...so does Hillary!

Edit: Just have to add....a $250 cap is not affordable for those in the Medicare donut hole. Also if you were paying less than $250 cap (out of the donut hole I pay $85 for ea of two meds) they will surely raise the co-pay amount or the premium. Hillary does not have a clue that $250 is a lot for people to pay. Takes from their rent, food, etc.
