Is Romney's middle name really Mithaniel?

As in Willard Mithaniel?

We need to see the ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

http://www.telestialstate.com/2012/04/25/the-lds-church-is-totally-politically-neutral-except-for-that-whole-romney-thing/

In fact, the LDS Church is so far removed from politics, that they’ve even released a press release highlighting their political neutrality

But you see, a Mormon named Mithaniel Romney is currently running for President of the United States of America. And as Paul Rolly points out in his recent Salt Lake Tribune column, W. Craig Zwick from the First Quorum of the Seventy (pictured here), totally wants that Mormon to become President. So much, in fact, that Zwick used his LDS Church email account to solicit campaign contributions, writing:

“I’m down in Vegas [with son Spencer, who is Romney’s finance chairman] helping Mitt Romney today . . . How much can you contribute to the Romney for President Committee today? You can only give $2,500 max for you and your wife. Let me know — let’s take back America!”

Yeah, I know. Shocking. A Mormon leader used church resources to help a Mormon become president.

2. Elder Zwick got a "LDS Smack Down"

No Jello Salad for 6 Months, and a Stern Look from church preisdent.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS Church) hates bad press, especially when one of it's own General Authorities breaks the rules.
As a Mormon Democrat, I sent Elder Zwick a kindly worded note and Fruit Cake about his breach of church policy. This happened in the spring of 2011, and the Church reminded all church employees and leaders that they must not use any church resource or platform for politics just days later.
This Mormon will not be voting for Mitt, (Just Mitt) but would love to see Harry Reid run in 2016.

3. Why Harry Reid?

Because he's LDS?

Because he's been such a stalwart defender of progressive issues?

Because he's a real fighter?

Why?

4. Because I think he is a good leader

I have heard him speak in church, voted for him and worked on his campaign when we lived in Nevada, and he is a much better representation of my Mormon world view. But if I could pick any one to be president it would be Dennis Kucinich

5. I think he doesn't get enough credit for the work he does as Majority Leader.

I doubt that he'd run for President, though. He doesn't seem to have the fire in his belly, but I could be wrong.

If you have any inside sources, I'd love to know whether this "Mithaniel" thing is actually true.

7. Willard Mitt Romney

Mitt is an often shortened version of Milton in mormon families, butt Brother Romney's real name is Willard Mitt

Just the facts, Mormons are known for having odd names, like my Stepmother Marna,
Grandmother Afton, Great Aunt Idaho Fae, Uncles Vardey and La Von. Mithanial is not one I have ever heard before.
Glad to hear that you see some good qualities in Senator "Give Em Hell Harry" Reid. And your right, I doubt he'll ever run. But a mormon can dream.
Thanks for the Welcome!

9. I don't get that at all. And is their shopping mall really exempt from property taxes?

Does any other church own retail or commercial property that is exempt from property taxes?

Maybe it's an "only in Utah" thing.

10. So the Church owns a mall

The church does pay taxes on all it's business interests as per IRS regulation.
I wish the church would come fix up the Capitol Hill Mall in Helena, like they did in Salt Lake.
The mall sits next to Temple Square and Church HQ, they have informed the Mormon faithful, like me, that it was to preserve the integrity of the downtown area that surrounds the Salt Lake Temple. They also have assured us that no tithing money was used. Believe what you want.
I may not agree with what the church has done with it's business investments, but that has little effect on my daily Mormon life.

The mall is called the City Creek Center
