Hillary Clinton 1 day ago---Why I oppose Keystone XL

Short and to the point.

Why I oppose Keystone XL

When I was secretary of state, the department began reviewing an application to build a pipeline that would bring Canadian oil sands crude across the border, run more than a thousand miles through the American heartland, and terminate in Nebraska — Keystone XL.

As the secretary who initiated the review, I refrained from commenting on the pipeline after I left the federal government. I didn’t want to get ahead of President Obama while the process was still underway — because the decision was and is his to make.

Since the application was filed, the effects of climate change have grown more acute. More than 8 million acres have burned in the United States so far this wildfire season. California is in the fourth year of a historic drought scientists say has been made worse by climate change. More severe storms and extreme heat waves have wreaked havoc around the world............

..............American energy policy is about more than a single pipeline to transport Canada’s dirtiest fuel across our country. It’s about building our future — a future where the United States will once again lead the world by constructing state-of-the-art infrastructure, creating new jobs and new markets, accelerating the transition to a clean energy economy, and improving the health, safety, and security of all Americans.

Learn more about Hillary’s vision for modernizing North American energy infrastructure.

http://www.newrepublic.com/article/122147/hillary-clinton-has-hired-former-keystone-pipeline-lobbyist

Hillary Clinton has hired a former lobbyist for the company behind the Keystone XL pipeline, further upsetting environmentalists who have long been wary of her commitment to fighting climate change.

BuzzFeed’s Ben Smith reported on Wednesday that the Clinton campaign has hired Jeffrey Berman as a campaign consultant. Berman, who began working for the campaign earlier this month, once lobbied on behalf of TransCanada, the company that hopes to build a pipeline carrying tar sands oil from Canada to the southern coast of the U.S.
. . .
"For us it’s a signal that she continues to be willing to work with oil and gas interests and take money from folks who are committed to have a pathway to fossil fuels," said Ben Schreiber, Friends of the Earth's climate and energy program director.

Really? Did you have a kitchen timer going to remind you when to check the climate change oven?

It's not really short and to the point if it has to be excerpted.

Will she take any action at all to prevent it being built?

I am very sorry, but her statement was nowhere near as strong as it should have been.

She has a habit of saying things about "When I am President.. this that and the other!". No such statement from her about Keystone. I think she picked her words very carefully so that she can flip on them if she finds some way to claim she is offsetting the carbon emissions.

When children say that, they're usually excusing their bad behavior by pointing out that others were exhibiting the same bad behavior.

In this case, it's just the opposite. Camp Weathervane sees that populism is, well, popular, and is attempting to usurp the ideas and actions of a candidate who's been mostly on the correct side of issues that the average American faces for nearly 30 years.

As a teacher, you probably would fail her for copying off of her neighbor's paper.

...that and the fact that the oil cost is cheap now, so she can "safely" step out when it's already said and done.

Because the debates are live, and no focus group will tell her what to say. I am hoping the moderator will give every candidate difficult questions.

Since the application was filed, the effects of climate change Saudi Arabia flooding the oil market so that the pipeline isn't viable have grown more acute.
