I remember after the 2000 election; one of the concerns about Clear Channel was that some monopoly regulations had to be gutted in order for them to take over so many markets.

It seems like Tom Hicks was the guy who was putting all this together, and he was the one who basically bought George W. Bush his ranch (indirectly).

So this huge right-wing radio monopoly is really a 21st century creation.
