2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAs of today, congressional endorsements matter.
Yesterday, when Bernie had none of them, they didn't matter. Today, he has one, and they do matter.
They don't matter very much, though, let's not get carried away. Someday Bernie might have two endorsements, and if and when that happens, endorsements will matter a bit more than they do now. But as of today, endorsements matter, but just a little.
In other news, candidates' positions on TPP no longer matter. Yesterday, they did matter, because Hillary hadn't declared hers yet. But now that she has, and she's against it, that doesn't matter anymore.
You gotta keep track of this stuff, otherwise you will end up caring about something that doesn't matter, or not caring about something that does matter. If you want to stay on the Bernie train, you have to switch all of your opinions about things at exactly the right times. So be vigilant!

(11,417 posts)is Bernie was there first or Hillary is not truthful she's hedging.
On DU that is preaching to the choir. Has little effect. But I'll bet soon the thing they will be doing is trying to keep everyone in the fold. My guess is after Biden says he isn't running some Sanders second choicers will go over to Hillary. Hillary will be serging when they leave Biden out if the polls.

(11,366 posts)It's just that Raúl Grijalva is a very liberal house member who hasn't gotten rich from Wall Street.
Same mold. Not a Wall Street-owned DINO. That's all.
In fact, didn't Keith Olbermann have to take a leave of absence for donating to Grijalva?

(58,378 posts)so popular with establishment Democrats as to get 150+ endorsements certainly could've persuaded the Congress not to pass fast track authority, or at the very least tried.
Since she didn't it's far more likely that the Congress will pass the TPP which as of now Hillary, cough cough opposes.
They first turned on their own party's president when he joined with Republican congressional leaders to push a measure called "trade promotion authority" in June. That legislation -- key to getting other countries to sign off on a final agreement -- allowed Obama to seal the deal and send it to lawmakers for an up-or-down vote with no amendments.
Clinton dismissed that bill as procedural, and said she'd weigh in on the deal once it became final.

Fast-track, or trade promotion authority, will allow the White House to send trade deals to Congress for up-or-down votes. The Senate will not be able to filibuster them, and lawmakers will not have the power to amend them.
The expedited process, which lasts until 2018 and can be extended until 2021, greatly increases Obamas chances of concluding negotiations on the TPP, which is a top goal of the presidents.
