Zaid Jilani: Bernie Sanders Is Exceeding Obama's Historic 2008 Run in Crowds, Donors and Polling

Zaid Jilani: Bernie Sanders Is Exceeding Obama's Historic 2008 Run in Crowds, Donors and Polling

Up until this point in 2007, the largest rally Obama had held was a rally in New York City, our nation's most populated location, that brought out 24,000 people. Sanders has exceeded that in numerous locations that are actually much smaller in population – Boston, Portland, and Los Angeles.

Earlier this month, Sanders set a record for the largest Democratic primary rally in Boston's recorded history.

At the end of September, the Sanders campaign announced that it had hit one million donations – faster than any presidential campaign in history. This was a target that the Obama campaign did not hit until February 2008 during its own challenge to Hillary Clinton.

Perhaps even more remarkable is that this milestone was achieved with an average contribution of $24.86; although the Obama campaign was quick to boast of its sizable number of small donors, 47 percent of his money ended up coming from small donors, less than half.

Polling Stronger Than Barack Obama

Obama managed an upset of frontrunner Hillary Clinton that few believed to be possible. But at this point in his initial campaign, he was polling well behind her. Real Clear Politics has a chart showing polling averages among major pollsters for that primary. In early October, Obama was at 22.6 percent to Hillary Clinton's 48.2 percent.

to see the forrest or the trees.

They are relying upon polls. Polls that have as much sturdiness as a South Carolina dam after some rain. The foundation was great when they first poured the concrete, but the environment and time has marched on.

When 87.4% of the population is now using the Internet and 51.7% of the population doesn't own or use a landline phone, most polls mean NOTHING.

Bernie rally crowds mean something. One hundred THOUSAND house parties means something. Overwhelming Bernie support on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit means something. I think more than a few people are going to be surprised by the results of this election.

I'm a geezer but most of my coworkers are in the 25-40yo bracket. None of these coworkers are enthusiastic about anybody but Bernie. If there are some repugs in the group they are pretty quiet. The ones that want to see HRC are saying that it's about time for a woman. Not that she is really good, just that she has the XX qualifications.

Millennials were the first generation raised with all this new technology. They know it well, they ALL know how to use it and they're on Reddit, Facebook and Twitter constantly.

FeelTheBern.org web site grew from a Reddit member, a young Millennial, who wanted to start a Bernie web site and before she knew it, she had tech volunteers from around the world who helped her build that AMAZING web site! Just like that - people volunteered to help HER help BERNIE.

My son is 22 years old and a Bernie supporter. His girlfriend is a Bernie supporter and all his friends at college are Bernie supporters. They will and ARE carrying Bernie and his message and there's 77 MILLION Millennials to do it.

If the polls are skewed to the more conservative politicians (Republicans over Democrats; centrist Democrats over progressives), and I believe they are already tilted to conservative politicians, and the election returns are even more skewed in favor of conservatives (Republicans over Democrats ; centrist Democrats over progressives) as recent revelations have indicated from the mathematician in Kansas, then they are stealing MANY, MANY more votes at the election booth than we currently realize.

They get to steal some percentage points from the corrupted and skewed polling process which gives us "results". Then, they get to steal even more percentage points to skew the returned results even further from the corrupted polling data. It's a 1-2 punch. They have two ways to cover their skewing and theft of votes.

We simply have to take back the vote from the Republican voting machine companies.

I have no doubt they are going to steal plenty of votes from Bernie. No doubt.

And, they'll do the same for the Republican in the general.

We can even get Republican voters to stand with us in getting paper ballots back because the recent revelations indicated that Establishment Republicans were getting skewed results in their favor over Tea Party candidates. I'm CERTAIN the Republican base is not happy with that.

One day maybe we'll all stand together to take back our vote.

And, if Bernie's campaign people are smart (and they are), they will have poll monitors around this country. They need to monitor votes cast as people are leaving and the counting of the votes.

I'm sure the skewed polling is a deliberate attempt to make election theft easier. It's not going to work. Millennials are going to show up to vote in droves - along with every other demographic that's supporting Bernie - which is pretty much ALL OF THEM.

I do hope, once Bernie is President, he will take us back to paper ballots. There's a reason BOTH parties have left hackable voting machine in place. I think they both utilize them when they need to.

The bailouts and TPP are evidence of that, and I don't see Bernie bowing down to them. We can only do this with a revolution (non-violent evolution to be more specific), or big money will roll over all over us over the next year.

that this will work out like a tidal wave.

Tidal waves can cross enormous distances in deep water while barely leaving a ripple on the surface. But Princess Celestia and the FSM help you if you're still in the coastal regions when it arises from the deep to the surface in all its latent and now visible power.

And much of the Bernie Tsunami is still in deep water (the social media, word-of-mouth), quietly building momentum.
