Related: About this forumNational Union of Healthcare Workers endorse Bernie
And this is from a bottom-up vote, not a top-down declaration:
The vote was the culmination of a three-month, bottom-up, democratic process. The unions Executive Board, consisting of elected rank-and-file members, sent questionnaires to every Republican and Democratic candidate. Union stewards reviewed the questionnaires and discussed the election at monthly steward council meetings at each NUHW-represented hospital, clinic, and nursing home, and discussed the candidates with their constituent members in each facility. And finally, on October 10, leaders from throughout the union gathered in Pasadena to cast their ballots.

(19,326 posts)I think that is the point, unlike in another recent case,
for another union and candidate who shall not be named.

If other "endorsements" were handled this way, I believe the results would probably be the same.
Our current leader for the Democratic nomination has been quite bad for unions and workers throughout her career. It makes zero sense for unions to support her with an endorsement.

(39,215 posts)do so. When you bother to look at the record - what exactly has she done for any of them? I mean really done for them that had any lasting good effects?
My first vote was for JFK and I don't remember much of anything that she lead to fight in.
Also her husband led the country in its last years of economic well being and helped enact laws that contributed to the downfall of many people in the middle class. Yes the congress passed the repeal of Glass-Steagall with a veto proof margin but the Clinton team let it become law without even a whimper.
Had he vetoed the damned bill and forced them to override it the Rs would not have been able to blame it on him and make it a Democrat bill. They would have had to take the blame.
