Which candidate did the best for her/himself in tonight's debate?

I think it was O'Malley. Here in Mayland, we've known him a long time. I never thought he was all that good a public speaker, even as his policy bent was always pretty good.

Tonight he seemed to have started slowly but in the end acquitted himself very well.

I think O'Malley. Because he had the lowest name recognition of the credible candidates. MH1 Oct 2015 #1

(I'm not counting Webb or Chafee as credible.)

I think he came across very positive and solid, and people had a chance to hear his policy strengths and priorities. People who share those positions and priorities will want to know more about him now.

I see O'Malley, Clinton, and Sanders as all being much better than any republican, but also as having very distinct differences between them. So I expect there will be some folks who didn't know O'Malley before but are more comfortable with his style and priorities. I think Clinton and Sanders are much more penetrated in their respective target voter populations so have less to gain from a good performance that didn't really break any new ground.

She looked great, kept her voice modulated, presented very well and was pretty much on topic.
