Related: About this forumSanders: "no, I don't think she's corrupt... I think she's doing what she can in the system"
Guys a class act, so is Hillary and OMally
I still think we're choosing among kick ass candidates... I'm comfortable now that we're going to be in good hands as long as a dem wins the election.
Dems are choosing between the betters and best of good (H)umans...

(14,593 posts)Clinton had a really good night, and so did Bernie. O'Malley's final thoughts were brilliant.
Chaffee and Webb not so much. I like what one analyst said, that Webb is clearly a very intelligent, thoughtful...Republican.

(90,367 posts)... something similar that Hillary only moved up a notch but Sanders moved up to be able to punch down at people like Trump etc

(12,675 posts)1. Sanders is honest enough to call out corruption but isn't smart enough to see it in Clinton.
2. Sanders ISN'T honest enough to call out corruption if it isn't "nice", which makes him a shitty President to tackle Wall Street and the Repukes.
3. Sanders is both honest AND smart, and the fact is that Clinton just isn't corrupt.
Take your pick. Unless you see some other rational way of looking at it.

(45,851 posts)If you have to be unquestionably breaking the law in order to be "corrupt" it's one thing, if you consider stretching the law almost to the breaking point time after time "corrupt" it's another.
I think Sanders is using the first definition while a lot of the perception of Clinton is she skates very close to the edge and the edge is further out there than it should be in the first place.

(7,010 posts)We know she's bought and paid for but she's better than any Republican, but far from better than a true progressive.

(3,859 posts)When was the last time Bernie was the favorite of the NRA? One time last century, I believe. He and his d minus rating are anathema to the NRA.

(90,367 posts)... when it comes to crap like their stances.
Sanders doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt on that issue

(3,859 posts)last century support for the NRA, with Bernie having a very respectable and consistent gun record with the biggest foreign policy blunder in American history?
I don't feel the need to further argue the point.

(90,367 posts)... the NRA or had their support or had their gun support.

(90,367 posts)... one in their right mind takes those jerks seriously on anything.
Either way, I'm glad I saw Sanders tonight.. he's not pious, righteous, entitled or throwing stones like some of his
Admiral Loinpresser
(3,859 posts)How do you explain his lifetime D minus rating? I'm all ears.
uponit7771
(90,367 posts)... despite the politically motivated D rating by the NRAssholes... Sanders votes are pro gun... Sanders is unabashedly pro gun... hell... he even defended his position tonight on guns ... it was weak... but he defended it.
None of these candidates can throw stones

(90,367 posts)... in their mothers daughter should be able to get a gun without some checks and balances.
That's not anti gun or even pro gun control ... that's common sense.
That doesn't make him not pro-gun...
I'm not pro-gun, I don't think everyone should own one and I think their use and ownership should be restricted to what the 2A said in regards to a regulated militia.
I come from an area where the lack of common sense on guns has hurt a lot of people

(3,859 posts)Guns are a serious public health issue. We need major reform. I might even be willing to go for the Australian solution to gun massacres, but that is way to the left of any Democratic candidate in history. Gore and Hillary in 2000 is as far left as we have ever been, but I think it will be quite a while before any candidate gets that far left again.
uponit7771
(90,367 posts)... guns.
Look, if Sanders gets into office I'm more concerned he'd find Trump and punch him in the face than I am concerned that the country will progressive a lot.
I would enjoy Sanders punching Trump in the face...
It feels good to think about that.
Admiral Loinpresser
(3,859 posts)The beginning of the Australian solution. She renounced that in 2008 and hasn't touched it since. Nobody has.

(14,593 posts)He is in a race against her to run for president. He did a real positive, and politic thing when he said enough with the damned emails. That was great, and very smart.
Not to call out Clinton on corruption was also a very smart move. It just wouldn't get him anything.
To his credit, he did call out Clinton when she said her plan to regulate Wall Street was 'tougher' than Bernie's. Bernie wasn't having that.

(12,655 posts)however, being non corrupt is not necessarily a high bar and not what we should be aiming for in our elected leaders.
