Editorial: Bernie shows he’s a contender

Aki Soga

The conventional consensus says Hillary Clinton won the first Democratic debate Tuesday, but the night belonged to Bernie Sanders.

There’s little about Sanders’ bid for the Democratic nomination that can be called conventional. He spurns big donations and proudly proclaims he has no Super PAC. He disses capitalism and embraces the label democratic socialist. He does little to soften his image as the grumpy old man on the campaign trail. He isn’t even a Democrat.

Sanders brought his passion and brook-no-nonsense style to the debate stage. He hammered home his message of fighting economic and social injustice.

(snip)

Bernie was simply Bernie on a national stage and it paid off. He garnered massive attention on Facebook, Google and Twitter. And those in focus groups and responding to online surveys – unscientific measures, to be sure – gave Sanders high marks.

(snip)

Sanders remains a long shot, but he walked off the debate stage looking like a credible contender. That counts as a win for the Vermonter crashing the Democratic presidential party.

Years before I was able to vote I was militantly apolitical. Even in the 60's as a child I could see the system was corrupted. What was the choice to effect change?
Drop out and accept that you, as an individual can't change anything, develop a new system even if it takes generations.
How about we just go rogue and break the systems that are working against us?
FDR used the radio and his class status to tell the economic royalists that they had to support those that needed help or face a revolt that could bring the whole thing down.
History may not repeat itself but I think we can see today that the harmonious vibrations are still being felt.
The fun part is that the technologies that are available today allow us to bypass the information management arm of the ruling class.
Just be wary of the tools for freedom being used against you.

We must remain vigilant and maintain our critical thinking skills, so long as humans are humans, the struggle will never end.

Peace to you.

Yer ok, I don't care what people say about you. <grin>

This article points out clearly the difference that Bernie is bringing.

I don't see the other side attacking this thread since they can't argue against it, so you're not going to get many replies .

I thought nobody there pays attention to Bernie.
At least that is what I have heard a lot.

Thanks, uncle! For once a more open minded
editorial.
